I am in the UK.

I can't say I am familiar with the name of ursosan 300 but I suspect you are broaching the question due to the recent recall of urso 300mgs? If so that is by Wockhardt so if your packaging doesn't state this pharamaceutical then yours is from a different company and yours is probably satisfactory and fine to take.

The urso 300mgs by Wockhardt that I am currently taking I have discovered from this site that it was recalled July and I'll no doubt have to get a differnt script from the GP to make up the 600mgs per day I take now. That urso was made in India, apparently Wockhardt has had part of its licence revoked at present due to unsatisfactory production at that site in India.

Hope this helps you but if you do have any concerns I'd suggest you have any concerns take it up with your doctor.

Hi there I used to take Urso for my PBC, the one I was on was called Ursofalk and sorry to say cant remember who the manufacturer was but it came in 250mgs white capsules. I was on it for 10yrs but in the last yr that I was on it I did notice that when I had the dose increased from 750mgs to 1000mgs to see if that would help my itch (which I have always had since 2001) the itch actually got worse. I basically had a totally horrendous yr with the itch being totally intollerable and uncontrolled and happen to read an article about a similar drug being trialed for PBC but nearly all of the patients in the trial complained that whilst the drug improved their lft's they had itch as a side effect of the drug. So armed with all this insight I decided to stop the Urso and within 2 weeks found a marked improvement in my itch. I did inform my consultant and he agreed to let me stay off it if I was feeling ok and the itch was more controlled and toleraable which it was. Unfortunately my LFTS would be raised now but I feel good and my quality of life is much better so a year on I am still off the Urso. So I would advise you and indeed anyone on here who has any problems taking Urso to discuss it with your consultant. In my case I feel that there was some ingredient in the drug that my body could not tolerate.
