No, but I just googled it and found the link below dated 3rd June 2013. I tried to call the number for information but it's Monday to Friday. I think I will not take any more and wait til I speak to someone for reassurance.
I'm concerned that users haven't been alerted!
My chemist told me when I went in for a perscription of something else ( oh you might want to read this) ! Contaminate during production. No way you want to be taking them. Go see your doc for something els or the light wasn't contaminated so you can take them.
But no big telling everyone which is very bad considering the contaminate!
I'm now curious to know if Pat H, reni73 and exy21 who have already posted on here as to whether you left the pharmacy with an alternative to Questran?
I find it odd that if one was to pick up a script from the GP if that is the case for majority of us then why hasn't the actual GP surgery informed a patient about the problem and then offered an alternative?
Well, in answer to your question I went to my pharmacy this morning and showed her the link as she had no knowledge of it. She said it looked genuine, and said I could leave my questran with her. BUT what amazed me was she asked my if I was having any problems, such as diarrhea, I said I have that all the time due to PBC, IBS etc and she said I was probably ok to carry on taking the questran!!!!! I pointed out the 'quarantine' part and she said, "hmm maybe go and see your GP for a replacement prescription". I left the pharmacy with no help, no replacement, 2 boxes of contaminated questran and more questions than answers lol.
So really, she was as useful as a chocolate tea pot. I'm going to see my GP as soon as possible for some clarity
Like you though, I'm really concerned that I haven't been contacted by my GP or pharmacy to tell me about the risk.
x
PS Pat, I followed reni73's link and it appears that Questran Light isn't on the actual recall, just the Questran which I guess is known as the 'original' one.
Peridot, according to Boots, both Questran and Questran light are recalled, and there was nothing else they could give me without a doctor's prescription. I'm really pleased that Questran Light isn't contaminated, so now I have to get another prescription from my doctor so that I can get Questran Light from Boots!
I've e-mailed my Hepatologist's secretary and am waiting to hear back if there is something else that they know.
