just been diagnosed with a very low b12 and was told i needed loading up, but after the first injection i had a bad reaction on that day achy joints bad tummy nausea weird feeling....but the following day woke up feeling ok but after taking my regular beta blocker i became really poorly, chest pain nausea feeling shaky and very weird ended up at the docs having an ecg thankfully all ok and as the day went on i felt better but the following day after the atenanol tab i was back to square one i spoke to my doctor again who thinks it is a reaction to the both has anyone else heard of this as i am being told i have to reduce the dosage of atenanol for a couple of weeks and then try another injection i am really reluctant when my doctor admitted she didnt really know if this was right ...... please help as i am unsure what to do...

I recently replied to another thread here about reactions to B12 as I'd also had a very severe one, resulting in a seizure, persistent cramping and chest pain. I couldn't even walk properly. My GP said I was the 1st person to report such a reaction and has ceased all my B12 injections for now until he can find out what went wrong.

On the other thread (I wish I could find it), someone answered that such reactions are known to occur with potassium deficiciency, and posted a link. Having read it, I'm convinced that is what may be happening with us. Apparently in a person with severe B12 depletion, the B12 injection causes a sudden drop in potassium levels and that results in the frightening symptoms.
