Hi Brandy,

No there is currently no evidence of harm concerning large quantities of injected B12, There can be some discolouration of skin and wee etc, sometimes an acne type rash.

It would be wise though to have some monitoring of bloods as when you add a large quantity of one B vitamin you can upset a "natural" balanse say and other essential (B) vitamins could depleet etc.

Perhaps try this site and put what ever B12 you are using into their search:

toxnet.nlm.nih.gov/

But why inject so much, the body will only take up a certain amount ? The rest will just be washed out..More B12 is taken up from several smaller doses than from one large dose apparently.

Kind regards,

Marre.

Just to add there is a possible "harm" with lots of B12; high doses of vitamin

B12 may have tumour promoting activity. See:

thanks marre ,for your information ,the amount that i take weekly is 2ml ,( and not 3000),the name of the b12 injection is a-lennon vitamin b12 10ml ,i feel so much better since i started taking it !! that im afraid stopping ,i sametimes still have pins and needles on my hands when i wake up ,but i have a new energy wicht i didnt have before ,very gratefull with the reply .

Hi Brandy,

Glad you are feeling so much better!! Can only say if it works for you and you have some monitoring of bloods then stay with it. I've been injecting "extra" cyanocobalamin 1000mcg in 2ml solution every week/10 days on top of once every 2 months NHS hydroxo for over 7 years now, no problems at all, just am a lot better than I was on the once every 3 months NHS maintenance! I was developping neuro symptoms (loss of balanse etc) on that treatment, muscle wasting and just way to vacant one month out of 3.

I do however have yearly bloodtests and my serum B12 is never over the ref range, and did initially also become folate def, so have folate tabs now, which have also helped to my improvments, if you can, make sure you have no other deficiencies (common with PA// B12 def).

Not sure what your 2 ml from a 10ml bottle containing 3000mcg would come to..

KInd regards,

Marre.
