After 2 weeks of alternate day b12 injections I have developed a sore red tip on my tongue, is the b12 making me deficient in something else? Or what could be possibly going on? Any advice?

Sore red tip of tongue vitamin b12 injections
Have you had folate levels checked .Normally done with a serum B12
I sometimes get a sore area on my tongue, either the tip or on the side. It is primarily a symptom of folate deficiency but folate can be depleted by initial b12 injections as they work in conjunction with each other, the increased b12 will use up folate.
Or maybe your folate level wasn’t adequate to start with and injections have further decreased it? You need to have it tested and consider taking either folate or a methyl b complex.
In my case I believe my folate deficiency symptoms stem from problems with b12 absorption which in turn affects folate metabolism. I have lots of folate in my diet and my initial tests showed an over range level of 23+ with b12 of 250.
With b12 injections folate reduced to mid range and my symptoms improved.
Hi Thyropausal
I looked through my notes as been self treating for 2 years now. I had all sorts of odd tongue, cheek, teeth , tonsil issues while getting to where I am now which is a plateau of outward normality!
All my cofactors except iron are in the upper 75% of the range and I feel that many niggly symptoms went when that was achieved.
My ferritin is stubborn so still working on that as despite supplementing it was falling but now stabilising.
It took about 18 months of at least every other day injections for me to reach my symptom plateau where I could function well and niggles went away.
