Hi all and in response to

Litatamon

B12life

(don’t know how to highlight names to get their attention)

During a discussion recently on B2 deficiency, I mentioned genes affecting B12 and was asked what they were

So sorry for delayed response :

Gene MTRR -

rs id - rs1801394 effect allele G

(Methylation process ??)

Gene FUT2-

rs id - rs601338 - effect allele A

AA only = non secretor

= serum b12 tests may be inaccurate

Gene TCN1 -

rs I’d - rs526934 effect allele G

B12 transporter= lower circulating B12

Gene TCN2 -

rs id - rs9606756 effect allele G

B12 binding protein - reduced B12 levels

There maybe many more….

When Adult Inherited Metabolic Diseases consultants looked at my DNA in 2018, they tested MTRR and TCN2 (among many others) but not FUT2 or TCN1. Nothing was found beyond heterozygous MTHFR and MTRR, which was not of note as not variants previously reported and both associated with recessively inherited disorders anyway.

Ah well.
