I need to supplement vit D but vutamin D requires magnesium. But magnesium cancels out iron and I need iron so what do I do? This is doing my head in
I'm so sorry I am always confused - Pernicious Anaemi...
I'm so sorry I am always confused
I take vitamins D with k2.If not deficient you will have magnesium in your body to utilise.
Just take as prescribed .
I understand its s minefield .
I alternate vits and minerals .
Iron every other day away from caffeine but with vit C to help ansorbtion . Same with iron rich foods .
Blood tests will tell you in 3m how you are doing .
Popcorn,
Where did you get the idea that magnesium cancels out iron ?
Magnesium is magnesium written as Mg 2+.
Iron is iron written as Fe 2+
Like Nackapan has Vitamin D with Vitamin K. Fe 2+ with Vitamin C.
Magnesium is phenomenal. Adenosine TriPhosphate ATP for short is our molecular currency of ENERGY. So, similar to what % of Battery you have on your Phone or SMART device.
Now, ATP is shortened is should be Mg-ATP. Where Mg is Magnesium and - is the bond between the 2 groups. We need Magnesium in Every Single Cell for our Power Houses (mitochondria).
I take Magnesium Threonate and used to pump it in doing Events. By that, I mean Sport whether it was Strength, Speed, Stamina, Agility or a combination of them.

This is all hurting my head. I've got a lot of brain fog so I'm feeling very confused
Try not to over think it.Just take what you ard a little low in and keep up your b12 injections.
You will in time have a clearer head
Thank you. I feel like I'm being such a pain. The b12 is giving me an upset stomach? Is that normal and my body will get used to it and stop?
Thats what this forum is for.We share our experiences.
I personally found initially B12 treatment speeds up metabolism .
I had bright yellow fatty stools .
Doctors were not concerned .
I was!!
So yes it can.
I also had nausea and many other symptoms .
I reported every symptom to my G.p .
Hope you csn find a good rapport with one in your practice.
Kerp a diary .

No haha. They don't support me injecting! But thank you for your helping really appreciate it
Do they help you at all?Blood tests ?
Ruling other things out?
They've just said everything's in my head and I should be on anti depressants. Very annoying. Makes me think it is all in my head. I've had go fight for blood tests but then they say there isn't anything wrong with them. However when I asked Cambridge doctor he said I was deficient in lots of things and the gastroenterologist agreed I was aswell. Apart from B12. He said he was on the fence about active b12 etc. But from what I've read here with yoy guys I'm definatly low in things.
My active b12 was 48 pmol
Ferritin 90 pg/l
Transferrin saturation 16%
Folate 7.1 pg/l
Vitamin D 24.7
I think these seem quite low too
Hopefully the Cambridge doctor advised on what to take ,having done the blood test Your ferritin level looks good 👍
Go with the fundamentals. B12, iron. Keep it simple. You'll get there.
I felt unwell with Vit D at 50, and yours is much lower. Perhaps try and get 10 min in the sun around midday for a natural boost as well, but to feel well I would think you need to supplement. The doctor would prescribe at that level.
I recently had a consultation with the Cambridge Iron and B12 Clinic specialist who diagnosed my condition as Autoimmune Thyroiditis and B12 Deficiency - Pernicious Anaemia. He said I was doing the right things, SI EOD B12, taking 5mg Folate twice a week was taking daily but showed reading of 20+, was taking B6 in a complex daily but (just didn’t feel right) went weekly with it, from a B12D WhatsApp group a doctor advised others on taking Elemental Magnesium 400mg powder from Vitamin Express which contains 3 of the most biologically available Mg’s… I split it taking morning and nighttime. The Cambridge doctor told me to stop the B6, take Folate weekly and take 20mg Gentle Iron from Holland and Barrett. Taking all these together over even a shortish period has impacted my body positively, proven to me by not only how I feel but also by putting myself through strenuous jobs which usually floor me for awhile with headaches, brain fog, cognitive issues etc. My journey has been long, not as long as some on here, and without the help and support of folk on here it would have been overwhelming, thank you all. So don’t give and be as persistent as you are able. If anyone is interested a video of our recent B12D zoom group meeting featuring guest speaker Dr Klein is up on YouTube. It contains a case study of a pregnancy then a time of questions from attendees

How long before you saw improvement under Dr Klien?,:
I can’t honestly give a time interval that would necessarily correspond to an experience you may have as we are all different. I started with loading injections last August and experienced improvement in my health at about the 4th jab. Then I was put on 1 jab every 3 months. My symptoms returned after 2wks. After further consultations with my doctor, appointment at a frailty clinic and advice from haematologist (long story and utterly useless and dangerous) I joined PAS, then joined here where my self advocating B12 education began (again, thanks to you guys on here). So in practically applying my new knowledge over the months since starting to self inject last October, tweeking things here and there, I have been building on that aspect. I have been up and down, likely some of it ‘reversing out’ but also overdoing things physically, stress is in that mix also. The dangers of looking to the waters edge rather than the horizon creates impatience and looks for the quick fix. Take 2yrs as the long view to coming to a reasonable level of health. If you have a refreshing paddle sooner rejoice in that. Stay as positive as you can, if you slump come on here and get a hug. 🙂 Whilst latterly I have been slowly improving, but adding the Magnesium powder and Gentle Iron to the mix has given me a boost indeed, especially in the area of energy, headache elimination and sleep. If you are confused then, only a suggestion, you could try the regime I catalogued above and go from there. I’ll send you a Chat also. Sorry cannot be more specific.
I have looked at Vitamin Express, but I can’t see the magnesium you are talking about. They only seem to have 300mg power
Ok, you are looking at the correct one, probably. Its total content is 300g but the magnesium content (Elemental) is what you’re interested in. It comes with a scoop and each scoop is 200mg of elemental magnesium. It was advised that 400mg was good for optimal daily dose. I split it one scoop morning and one scoop about an hour before bed. It can be mixed with fruit juices etc. In the morning I mix mine in a glass of home made Kefir, night with orange squash. Hope this answers your enquiry. 🙂

Was it Dr Klein that gave you thr loading doses or thr NHS?
I think you're overthinking this. Magnesium does not "cancel out" iron. Don't get too caught up in trying to understand the various interactions - unless you are taking massive doses of something, the interactions are generally not something to get very exercised about.
