You do not inject IntraMuscularly into the abdomen , only sub-cutaneously .

hello Wedgewood and Nackapan,

If I may ask where do you normally inject? So do you notice any difference if you inject sub cutaneously compared to IM?

I now normally inject I.M. into the middle outer 1/3 of my thigh where the vastus Lateralis muscle come closest to the surface . ( see illustration on google ) I use a 2 ml syringe and. 26G x 1inch ( 25 mm) needle I have used the sun-cutaneous method in the past and found it equally successful , but for some reason I got annoying lumps on the surface of my skin with this method . . I used the whole of the front of my thigh for this method and 8mm needle

I always use A single use Hydroxocobalamin ampoule obtained from a German online pharmacy. as injectable B12 is a prescription item in U.K.

Best wishes.

thank you Wedgewood,

ok yes thats where I inject is on the lateral thigh muscle. I alternate EOD one ML on my legs. but I was wondering does it matter how long we keep using our thighs? I'm in my second month of injections. I was just curious. can we use our thighs for life on injections?

Yes -the area on our thighs is a large area . You need to make a mental note of where you inject . Also swap thighs each time , which Im sure you do . Also use the finest possible needle you can find . B12 is a water-based injection, so lends itself well to a fine needle .

good morning,

well thank you for all the information for me, now I will try it when I get the courage to. I'm doing well in the thighs but I do want to try the sub c. and see if I feel it right away. I use methyl b12 so I can feel it like instantly , but I want to see if I feel the sub c. right away as well.

That is odd getting lumps after sc b12.Wonder if the needle length not quite right for you?

I suspect you are right . I used a very short needle , shorter than 1/2 inch . But because of the lumps , I reverted to I.M. And now I’ve got so many I.M. needles to use up . ……. When I’ve used them up I will give sub-cut another try . But thanks for your message .👍

A sub-cutaneous injection will release more slowly into your system . than an I.M. The subcutaneous injection is into the fat layer near the surface . .

If you look in pinned posts there's a PDF you can download about IM injections, from Nursing Times. Clear diagrams and instructions on that.

You cannot do IM into the abdomen, only subcutaneous (SC)

I inject in the abdomen, using a 30g 8mm needle. I don't have much body fat but can pinch enough to do an injection. The volume I use is 1ml. If I inject this much it gets painful at the end and leaves a bump under the skin. So I use 2 syringes, each filled with 0.5ml and do 2 injections. No pain or bumps.
