Usually 5mg is prescribed if you are deficient for a short time.
Highest dose allowed to be available over the counter within the UK is 500 micrograms - hence usually 400 micrograms.
No idea what is available on the internet.
Too much folate/folic acid might be a bad idea. Are you sure you want that much?
I am informed that If I SI EOD then should take 5mg of folate, reducing it as one increases the interval between injections. π€
5mg is classed as a treatment dose. I take it daily prescribed by my Haematologist for a rare form of Autoimmune Anaemia. I would seek advice from your GP or another qualified medical professional before treating yourself at this level, it may do you no harm but best to check.
I take 5mg Folic acid daily which the consultant who saved my life when B12 D nearly killed me told me to do. If I do not take it I get ill again. I have checked the research on this and there is no reliable evidence of any danger. I find I eat very few of the vegetables that contain folate.
Fair enough, as you say your consultant advised you to take lt. What was the issue with B12 D?
I collapsed and paramedic rushed me to hospital with blue light and two tone siren. They put me on a drip with B12 & folate. Tests showed anti parietal cell antibodies so no stomach acid produced and no intrinsic factor produced to take B12 into blood.
Thatβs terrible, I hope you are OK now. Did you have any blood tests done before? I have a relative who is having numerous issues and their B12 keeps coming back as normal, can you suggest what they should be tested for please.
I use the same German pharmacy who supply my B12.
Metabolics , they are awesome quality supplements.

I take either 400 mcg of Actifolic (methylated folate) or now 800mcg of Swanson Quatrefolic (also methylated).
