petition?!

hello, I was just online trying to find anything about IM v’s SC B12 and came across a post response to the question of do the NHS fund B12 injections-the answer (from a Cornwall NHS) said that the NHS would no longer be funding these and would expect the patient to pay for themselves? No date on post though? I went further down and ended up accidentally on a .gov petition site posing that PA diagnosed should have their B12 funded? It showed that only 140 signatures had been collected so far? Is this correct? Has anyone else seen this?

I know, at first I thought I’d ended up on a fact fishing site but it had my MP district and details on it etc if I wanted to let her know that I had signed etc and she’s only been here 2years? Also with it being only a small number of signatures I assumed it to be a fairly new petition but I think I had better take another look and actually click the links on the previous post to for the Cornish NHS policy. I didn’t want anyone else following in on the link in case it’s a scam etc I will keep you posted on what I find though 👍💪

Hi,

I found the petition by searching "gov.uk petition b12 injections".

I used to get B12 injections at my GP surgery and didn't pay. They now have a system where I have to go to pharmacy to pick up the B12 ampoule and pay the prescription fee then I have to make an appt for b12 injection with nurse and take the ampoule with me.

As I don't have a PA diagnosis, if the petition is successful it probably won't help me.

I also found a 3page letter to GPs sent by NHS Cornwall telling them that they were stopping all b12 injections and putting everyone onto tablets and using the lockdown as a research opportunity to test the effects? Also using the Covid situation to say in the interests of public health during lockdown etc but there was no set date to revert back etc it even gave a list of Qs and As to bull shit patients with?! I sent a screenshot to PAS as an email for them to read. When you say ‘the’ ampoule do you mean you pay a prescription fee for 1shot? I self inject 1500micrgrams and they cost me around £1 each plus I bought isopropyl alcohol in lockdown for skin sterilising and with the price of needles and syringes etc I don’t think I pay more than £2? Have you not considered it? There are lots of videos online to watch how to do it and you get to choose when and how much you need-not the NHS. You know when you are feeling down with it 👍🥰

"putting everyone onto tablets and using the lockdown as a research opportunity to test the effects"

I think this happened across UK during lockdowns.

If the change to oral treatment was part of a study the GP surgery or health authority should have got ethical approval.

BMJ article on ethical approval from 2009.

NHS treatment is not enough for me so I have to treat myself.
