Description of Fatigue.

I find it helpful when others share their experiences with fatigue. I do not expect to be understood when I express my experience except here.

So February 2019 my fatigue was acute, constant and progressively getting worse until I was hospitalized and given two transfusions. I would have been in a nursing home except for Covid. Instead I was released and left to fend for myself. I would have gone back to try and get admitted again but guessed I would not be and might not survive after having expended the energy to try and get admitted. Or worse be declared insane and treated for that.

So I was in a restaurant for breakfast that I often went to. I could just barely eat and I said "When I came here I was up for going grocery hoping that I could eat and then go. Now I can't what is up with that? A friend/waitress being supportive said" Go grocery shopping and you will feel better and glad you went." I replied "No I won't" and went home and slept. The fatigue got worse.

It is only in the last 6 months that I do not need sleep every time after eating and it is just since I increased my folic acid from 1.2 mg to 2.4 mg that it seems to be less of an issue.

I have read that our folate levels are directly related to how well you metabolise B12. Do you know what your folate levels are currently? I personally take a slightly higher dose as mine were rock bottom when I had loading doses with my GP. The B12 didn’t seem to be having the effect I thought it would affect after about a year . So I took folate and what a difference for me . Obviously there are many factors involved. I still get fatigue and really badly if I overdo things so constantly have to pace myself but my fatigue is nowhere near as bad as it was . Hope this helps

Thanks for that. I just increased my folate from 1..2 mg to 2.4 per day. The results are positive.

I will go with symptoms and a limit of 5 mg per day which is the upper limit when trying to treat a deficiency.

I can see no reason why there should be an upper limit at all. Scare stories from the USA when fundamentalist Christians objected to cerials being fortified is all.

Years ago I read that if we take too much of one of the B vitamins we can deplete others, I think that's worth taking into account when wondering about reasons for an upper limit.

Good point. There is no upper limit for B12. There is a artificial restriction of 1 mg every other day. That I can find no scientific basis for.
