Where to now!

Things have been getting gradually worse at my GP practice but now it appears to be non functioning.

For the second time in 2 months and following e consult which have told me to make a face to face appointment I am repeatedly told there are no appointments call in a few days when ‘they’ might have released some appointments!!

It’s as if the doctors do not know what is going on!

I have started self injecting eod but I am almost bed bound I have never felt so lifeless and my family have noticed a difference and my sister was going to come in with me to see GP who insisted on ‘taking a break’ from my 3 monthly injections

I do not know where to go from here?

Is it possible to book a face to face online?Get someone to phone early every morning as after your consultation you were told to get s face to face .

Get someone to go in person to the surgery

If bloods needed a request can be messaged to Gp by receptionist to order a electronic blood form .

Or phone 'out of hours

Depends on your symptoms

I did this and they called an ambulance from their ' symptoms chart criteria/ flow chart .

Ambulance person rang and didn't come. .Told just to go.

Fair enough as such s shortage of ambulances and quicker.

( i was that ill) and never have felt so let down though.

I got 'the permission ' to go in.

Taxi to A and E

They decided to do a brain CT scan

And if memory correct wasn't left waiting long.

I did feel safer in the knowledge resuscitation equipment around .

Triage nurse worried .

At least basic bloods ,a heart trace .

The rest of the experience not good but glad for the 'basic' observations A and E do.

Gp is informed of every A and E visit .

My old surgery shut .

New one just as difficult to penetrate .

Same everywhere I think.

Some online services are good but all different in different areas and GP 'groups.

The Gp that insisted you 'taking a break' ftom 3 monthly b12 should've followed up with investigations???

If thinks another cause ??

If you think b12 the issue you are doing everything within your power.

I got alot worse before any improvements

Also took a multivit to cover any other deficiencies until more bloods done.

I'm glad youve people around to help to

Ring early every morning.

Go in person

Get them.to navigate online.

It is unfortunately where we are at present .

Hope you get somewhere

Bless you, what an awful situation when patients are not able to see a damned Dr ! It seem's to be the same situation all over the country.

Is it actually due to the covid pandemic ? Or is it the fact they have let far too many people into the country without expanding the services ?

Are you able to take matter's into your own hands and inject more frequently ? I simply had to as I were in the same situation as yourself. It is awful not being able to function and to feel so wretched.

Most of us are sceptical to attend A&E because of the long waits but if things get any worse it might be worth a visit. I do feel for you as I have been where you are now but all I can offer is a hug. 🤗

Or might it be due to the undeniable fact that the NHS has been deliberately underfunded for the last 13 years, leading to a record number of medical staff leaving the service. Things are set to get even worse I'm afraid.

Oh joy.

My annual thoratic aortic scan was already two years over due ! When it is peoples lives being put at risk - I call it nothing other than legalised murder. 🤬

Absolutely and because most GP practices are private business owned by the GP Partners its made it almost impossible for them to work effectively. The underfunding is an attempt to move public opinion towards demanding a USA style service and must be strongly resisted.

So sorry you are having such an awful time. I believe they are legally bound to give personal appointments.

Phone 111 if you are able, or a member of your family. Also ask them to contact your M.P. to advise them of situation, to seek their help.

Hope you get appointment asap!

Yes, I would expect a GP that stops your treatment to want to monitor the effect that may have on you - by observation.

It starts with the waiting room : watching a patient respond when their name is called, how they get up and walk, how they greet their GP, what they look like - all of this was done routinely before you even sat down in the doctor's office.

Long before "How can we help you today ?"

Which is why this new system fails both GP and patient.

If you are too unwell to push for this, please allow someone else to do it for you. I remember my poor old mum getting my sister to drive her around the streets looking for me, when I was "lost". She found me and offered to talk to our shared GP for me.

Let your worried family help you. These are difficult times, and many good, experienced GPs do not want to work this remotely, and are frustrated by this system too.

Thank you all for your as yet unread replies. Unfortunately collapsed at home Wednesday evening and working my way through A & E system ever since. Finally made it to a ward this am (Sat) no diagnosis yet not even checked in yet normal meds locked in a cupboard and not given since arrival so not holding out much hope. More news as I have it.
