I post here as some on this forum helped me discover a solution. It is my understanding that the problem was caused by the difficulty swallowing caused by B12 Deficiency.
The Eustachian tube is closed the majority of the time. It opens in response to pressure changes including when swallowing. About 4 years ago I was starting to experience what I now know was more acute symptoms of a lifetime of B12 deficiency. One of the symptoms was build up of fluid in my Eustachian tube. I was DX with chronic swimmers ear and I at the time did not now the typical methodology of the medical profession and its limitation.
With the help of those on this forum I figured out it was not chronic swimmers ear. Thank you so much. I experienced teeth ache which I now know was related to the fluid in my Eustachian tube. It seems to be resolving and if I can not resolve it I will know how to direct medical personnel. Thank you so much. The pain did get worse when B12 Deficiency symptoms got worse.
So I tried using "Otovent" which was suggested on the forum with some success. When I was tested for COVID I asked that my ear be checked and the nurse confirmed I had fluid in my Eustachian tube which had been missed many times. The nurse suggested saline nasal spray and that was key.
I now am working on relearning how to swallow now that I have more B12.

Thank you so much! Although the teeth pain is all but gone I am finding at the end of the day my ears start popping and I will try and work with the information you have given me to further drain my Eustachian tubes.
thanks for your post. I am pleased for you that you have finally been successful in unblocking your Eustachian tube. Ive been v dizzy lately and one cause could be my ears, with blocked ( Eustachian) ear. I shall try saline nasal spray.
Wizard6787, I've had this inner ear issue that began in January of this year. Is a feeling of fullness or like my right ear is plugged. My regular doctor has looked at my ear several times saying little wax build-up and ear drum looks OK but said it may be an Eustachian tube drainage issue.
Then two weeks ago I went to ENT specialist to have them look at my right ear. Funny thing he looked at that ear for like 5 seconds then went straight up my nose with an endoscope. Like he knew exactly what it was. Nasal polyp growth pressing on my right Eustachian Tube and blocking it. The two main things that cause that are allergies and type 2 inflammation. My guess is Type 2 inflammation of which I am just learning what the heck that is as it must be different than type 1 or 3 inflammation? If there even is a Type 1 or 3? Could it be related to just chronic inflammation caused by autoimmune gastritis? Not sure. Anyway, I am being scheduled for surgery to remove the polyps.
Hi - did the nurse suggest saline nasal spray to be used in the nose, or squirted into the ear? I ask because I have bad ear problems at the moment (have only had for a few days), and was wondering whether sterile saline squirted into my ear might clear it and reduce inflammation? I have been reducing swelling / pain by pressing ice cold plastic ice cubes (filled with liquid) against the outside of my ear (behind and in front). But am nervous it will morph into a full-on ear infection. I can only ring GP for appointment tomorrow morning, and may not get to see a GP for a couple of weeks unfortunately..
I use the naval spray in both sides of my nose. I had not thought of in the ear and looked it up on line and nasal spray in the nose is mentioned.
I did get some relief from using hydroxide peroxide in my ears when I thought I was dealing with swimmers ear. This does not make sense as the Eustachian tubes are behind the ear canal hence the fluid build up behind the ear drum. Guessing it may have somehow helped with the pressure somehow.
I am very happy you were made aware of this in time. My mother passed away when she no longer could swallow and for whatever reason was not giving a feeding tube. It wasn’t until after her death that I myself received the diagnosis of B12 deficiency which according to my neurologist I had all my life but was never told. I received so called ‘vitamin ‘ injections occasionally. I made it my mission to find out as much as possible and realised my mum must have been deficient for many years previous to her death. Other relatives have since also been diagnosed and are feeling the benefit of regular injections. A mere vitamin deficiency can do a lot of damage.
That someone can have experienced B12 deficiency their life is is not well accepted. I expect that the 30 + year old understanding of B12 is very slowly heading toward a better understanding and right now the only change in treatment is more B12 by some of us that self threat more successfully than the 30 year old understanding allows.
