Wake up very cold and was wondering if any supplements might help this. Taking iron pills and b12 injections currently.

I don't know of any supplements that can help you warm up. A blanket, electric blanket, wool socks?

The B12 should help but if you were in a dire state, it can take a while before everything starts healing. Folic acid is also needed for B12 to do its job, so it's best to supplement, depending on blood levels.

How much iron are you taking and do you have any iron labs to share? Too much iron is toxic. But too little and it may not be enough to get levels up, depending on your starting point.

Low thyroid function can be another cause - have you had any thyroid testing?

Although not recommended for those with a heart condition or high blood pressure (check with your doctor first), I found a cold shower of about 1 minute daily helped with keeping warm. The 1 minute should be worked up to slowly. Ice cold is not necessary, 10-15 degrees C is ok (as long as its cold enough to be uncomfortable).

Regular acute (short duration) cold exposure stimulates the growth of brown fat, which is very effective at keeping you warm. I didnt really have any big problem with keeping warm before but since I took this up I found I can go out comfortably in a t-shirt when most people are on at least 2 layers.

However, there may be other causes for your issue, e.g. thryoid, circulatory, neuropathic etc, so this is just one option/possibility to consider.

Hi,

Might be worth putting any thyroid results you have on Thyroid UK forum on HU.
