My daughter has developed terrible acne following B12 injections. Does anyone know how long this will last as it has had a devastating impact on her confidence.

I struggled with this as well. It seems to have slowed down a lot after several months of injections. However, the things that I found that worked wonders were a serum with BHA and also a treatment of salicylic acid after the BHA. I did the BHA twice daily and now only need both in the evening. Cleared things up really well.

A cheaper option which may do the job is calomine lotion over the whole area before bedtime. Shower of the next morning.

Sorry, just saw this. I would say 3-4. I take injections everyday because I can’t function without them. Mine were terrible and I thought I was going to have to live with them like that forever. This was not the case. If injections are needed in the future have hope that it will clear up.

It’s so upsetting when we suffer spots. This happened to my brother and his spots on his forehead were just for about 3 months when it gradually went. Good luck.

I’m 57 and had great skin my whole life. I suffered acne off and on for 6 months after starting b12 injections. Warm compresses to open the pores immediately followed by zapzit cream in the evening was very helpful and eventually the breakouts stopped. Since I said that I’ll probably wake up with spots tomorrow!

I understand it is so upsetting! For now be very gentle to your skin, nothing abrasive. Try warm compresses followed right away by a benzoyl peroxide product so it gets deep into the pores and avoid inflammatory foods like sugar and alcohol. Also check maybe if you have any gluten issues because that can cause skin problems and sometimes goes along with b12 issues

I have left the spots alone cuz i've tried many things but it gave me more breakouts so i just have to be patient now and see what happens...btw thankyou for your helpful advice :) means alot

How is your daughter now? Have her acne gone?

mine started to clear up. I did. two things:

Started taking lot of b5 - Pantothenic acid

and switched from the hervert b12 to the Canadian.

I did. the b12 brand switch first and got some results but in the end I think the b5 is working. It takes 7-12 weeks of taking it.

I have never had acne before so it must be the b12

my acne is fortunately localized to my face.

I also boil water in a post then turn off the heat and my face for 7-10 min. Then do a hydrogen peroxide and baking soda paste. I did that once a week or whenever my fave would want to start getting oily.

Steaming was thanks to emmers5's suggestion. I also started using Benzol peroxide daily.

Those things have helped tremendously

Thanks very much for response- in the end she stopped taking injections- - terrible acne on face, chest and back which was taking its toll on her mental health. Managing fatigue in different ways. Acne has thankfully cleared although it took several months.
