Hello everyone, I have had upper back pain for about 2 years now and some random piercing pain in the chest. It was until recently when things turned for the worst and I was diagnosed with a low B12 of about 113.0 pg/ml. I have also experienced worsened pain on my upper back and it moved to my waste area. I have also experienced some heat on my left leg down to the foot. my joints hurt as well.

I have since started taking the B12 shots about I am in the 4th day now. I also have random pains along my thighs and legs sometimes it is piercing especially on the back. I also experience some rib pains and lot of headaches and dizziness. Also pain on my shoulders slightly coming to the shoulder muscle. I feel some pain on the joint in my but are especially on the right one. Is this all normal?

I also cant sit or stand for a long time, I get tire and feel like stretching my back.

Please help , thank you

Hi, Sorry to hear you're having a bad time. If the doctor thinks your symptoms are associated with B12 deficiency, then be aware that when you begin treatment, symptoms can feel worse before it gets better.

You're still in the very early stage of treatment, it can take many months before you notice improvements, in my case it was six months before I felt reasonably recovered.

I'm not medically trained, so obviously if you have concerns that you're experiencing new symptoms, please see your doctor.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery x

I had very similar issues. My pains were found to be connected with SIBO which is associated with B12 deficiency. SIBO can and does cause a range of weird bodily symptoms. I would ask for a test. You may need a referral to a gastroenterologist for this. I also suggest a fecal elastase test for pancreatic insufficiency, also connected to B12D and again your gastroenterologist can test for this. It’s is also a major cause of the symptoms you are experiencing.
