Has anyone found another place to test MMA please? Viapath via St Thomas are not offering it anymore. Has anyone tried the pinprick version?

Hi,

Really disappointed on contacting Viapath (through St.Thomas Hosp) to hear they are no longer offering the MMA test. I was diagnosed with functional b12 deficiency with their help.

I appreciate I can check Active b12 via a pinprick, and it seems MMA is available this way to but very expensive. Has anyone tried either of these with a pinprick please? Or have any other options please?

I’ve just completed 5 pinpricks for ferritin/iron & no samples were viable, though did work for other parts of tests, so have lost a bit of confidence in doing them!

I’ve tried a 24hr urine test to check mma in past, but can’t find those kind of tests either. I’ve swopped from monthly injections to twice daily sublinguals, my recent blood serum showed b12 still top of Drs range, but has dropped considerably from the 5000+ it was on injections, and some symptoms are returning.

I searched online for "MMA blood test uk" and found a link that mentioned private MMA blood tests, not pin prick.

Medichecks do an MMA blood test , but expensive at £149.00 plus £30.00 for a venal blood test .

I found an MMA urine test that Regenerus labs do, but haven't actually used. Others will comment am sure on comparison of urine vs blood testing, but from my reading urine looked like a good option, albeit am not an expert at all!

Thank you. Yes, I’ve completed one of those before, Medichecks did them, but no longer available via them. It was the collect urine for 24 hr type of test, I’ll have a look at Regenerus, thank you,
