hi, I have written to gp to try and get injections every 8 weeks instead of every 12 weeks - if I was unsuccessful, what is the best sublingual hydroxacobalam brands and strengths to take - have also heard you can take sublingually when your getting injections every 8 weeks. Thanks guys

I would book a telephone consult.

I've had to do this several times or a face to face.

every 8 weeks is very little to ask for and in the guidelines clearly.

they may have not read them!!

3 months stuck in slot of medics minds whatever the symotons or need!!

I've tried sublingual 1000mg tablets on the tongue ( cyanocobalamin)

drops and sprays and high dose b12tablets

the theory is you can passively absorb about 1% of what you take.

They can be very expensive.

I did endless symptom charts to see if helping

I think they do little or nothing for me

Good if you can absorb but then you wouldn't have been prescribed tablets if you can!!

also point out once on injections s your body gets to rely on thus delivery route if you need b12

can't remember the science but made sense at the time

I've not used a hydroxcobalamin sublingual but

a 'Better you' b12 spray methylcobalabin may be worth a try . Delivers 1000mg per spray.

or consider buying b12 to inject

I do this subcutaneously which is effective .

I bought it when my injections were 'threatened ' to be reduced.

Have you had recent bloods taken to check iron ,vit d ,magnesium folate ( if possible) often b12 done at same time.

thyroid.

To make sure nothing else adding to your symptoms.

very disappointing for you . A trial should be agreed at the very least

thanks for all info - I am booked in for telephone appt on 8th Nov - so see how it goes - have requested 8 weeks due to neurological issues. Have heard of peeps being refused requests due to ignorance of doctors ect - which is disappointing.

If I were you , I would consider self-injecting , I was forced to do this when my GP refused to give me 2monthly injections. ( totally numb feet ) It is cheap and easy . If you think you would like to try S,I.. just ask for the information here . An injection costs about £1.60 , everything included .

Sublingual B12 didn't work for me. So I switched to diluting the B12 in water and drinking it throughout the day. I noticed an immediate improvement so I stuck with it. I take a vast amount about 15000 mcg daily. That's 3 ml of liquid. I buy 60ml of sublingual B12 for £18 from an online site called iherb. It used to be £11 but has gone up dramatically recently.

If you don't have PA but an absorption problem in the gut, Sublingual may work for you.

It did for me and I made sure I found a Methylcobalamin and Adeonsylcobalamin mix. You need both to get the proper impact of it. There is no Hydroxocobalamin as sublingual that I know of, and Cyancobalamin which is best to avoid.

You can find a dosage of 3,000mcg to take every day, or even several every day. If you feel better then you'll a lucky one that can absorb it. I think really most is picked up in the stomach and really only a small amount is getting through membranes in the mouth.

You can find them for about £20 on Amazon, make sure they only contain water and B12 otherwise they can contain colours and flavours that can be quite toxic after prolonged use.

In theory it shouldn't matter which bio-available form of B12 you take - though people do report different experiences.

Passive absorption means that high dose oral and sublinguals can be effective for all absorption problems, including PA but it isn't effective for everyone.

Designs for Health Trifolamin B12 + Folate Lozenges - 3000mcg B12 (Three Forms)

designsforhealth.com › products › trifolamin

I took Trifolamin and my B12 level was tested at 1200. It raised my level but did not help my symptoms. It may help you though. It has 3 different B12 vitamins + MTHF Methylfolate. Fast dissolve ,orange flavor. I got it on Amazon. I now S.I. instead of sublingual.

I got my B12 from Germany.

trifolamin sounds good- yeah, 8 weekly might not take away neurological stuff or increased b12 levels sublingually, but would boost b12 levels and help with tiredness and fatigue just before your injections- well, thats the plan!

speak to the nurses.. my injection started at 12 weeks, then spoke to my GP as I felt awful after about 3 years, so he authorised 10 weeks which has been great for about 6 years, but recently I was feeling awful again and just happened to mention to the nurse that I was getting really tired and being very forgetful again.. I was so tired that day that I broke down in tears when speaking to her, she told me that even though she is a nurse practitioner, she can't reduce the intervals between injections, but would speak to GP on my behalf...

About an hour after I had left the practice she called me and said that the 8 week intervals had been authorised..

when you think about it, we see the nurse more often and they are more attuned to whole life medicine..
