Can B12 make you a bit snappy?

Since I've been taking the B12 I've seen nothing but massive improvements in my neuro symptoms and energy but it's also making me snappy too. Is this normal or is there anything I can do to counteract it?

I’d suggest on the days you feel good and plenty zing keep a diary and note down just how much activity you are involved in then compare that to your “quiter “ days. You may find your burning up too much of your b12 because you are feeling so good,it depletes very quickly so try and monitor your activities in case this is what’s happening to you.I know when I’m feeling well topped up that’s exactly what I do then wallop I hit that low and go back to rat ar.. mode ,you may find that’s all it is and just adjusting your level of activities may help?? Hope so it ,works for me.take care x

Very good idea and I hadn't even considered that. I was wondering about something after your reply, it's been a stressful time at work at the moment and I also caught a cold on the way back from holiday and I know illness burns up oestrogen fast, I wonder if it's the same with B12. I'm glad you have found a good way of managing this condition. There seems to be so little help from the GPs x

Yes your bang on,stress. illness ,over exertion all burn up b12 very quickly so when you feel like that top up your b12 with an extra shot or supplement, whichever you use. When I thought I had Covid,(kept testing neg) I increased my frequency and that helped immensely so just monitor yourself and be aware you may need to make adjustments and be kind to yourself you deserve that.take care x

Are you taking methylb12 or methylfolate? Methyls don't agree with some people. Methylb12 makes me incredibly cranky.

I am taking the Cytoplan Methylcobalamin & Adenosylcobalamin, and once a day the Deva Methocobalamin with Folate (so I get my Folate in but don't overdo it) If I'm out and about I have a quick spray of the Better You one. Is it too much?

I guess no one can say if some amount of methyl is too much. It's very individual. Some people have no issues others can't tolerate it at all. Can you try to get some hydroxob12 in tablet form? I know it exists in the US & europe, online - Swanson is the one we used to use.

Or SI as you mention below... ;)

Try cutting one thing at a time .

B12 and change in personalities..

Yes ... once you have found the right B12 and replenish enough in your body you will find that you will become alot calmer and as you say less snappy !

The miracles of B12 !!

Who would of thought a vitamin could cause such havoc on the body.

I am looking forward to that day 😁 I do feel so much better than I did but I find I am having a fair amount of sublinguals because the neuro symptoms creep back. I am thinking of self injecting. I know my GP will never prescribe it for me.

in reply toSKYROCKET123

Self injecting is probably the best route, less stress and once you notice symptoms reappearing you just 💉.

Plenty of people here that will put you in the right direction (German site, needles and videos ) .

I noticed the complete opposite. I was nasty (snappy) when I was B12D. I think a lot of people are. My partner was so relieved when B12 reversed it.

Methyl is often associated with neuro-psychiatric issues (heightened anxiety and short temper) but we have had at least one person on the forum reporting these as a result of other forms.

So should I stop the sublinguals? I haven't found any hydroxob in sublingual form.

they are available as methyl, hydroxo or cyanocobalamin - unless you have a specific rare genetic disorder called lebers syndrom, there is no reason to avoid cyanocobalamin. Its probably worth stopping them for a while and see if the mood improves.

found these but they are a bit expensive - sure you could find cheaper

The methyl B12 oral supplements make me snappy and anxious. I do cyano injections and don’t have the same response. It’s weird though because I take methyl folate and don’t have the same snappy / anxious response as I do with the methyl B12.

Yes i can be snappy.Like PMT

Usually when fatigued

Usually when not given time to process one conversation.

Usually as can't think ax quickly

I actually say

STOP

Slow down.

To my husband.

Only happens when he is still in 'workmode'

Also if interrupted

Completely throws me so snap.

I think for me it's part of recovery .

My brain is definitely waking up.

Having problems with 'controlling ' process of all firing uo at once .

Brain overwhelmed

If that makes sense.

For a few yesrs have felt slow and 'drugged'

More quiet time out needed perhaps.

I certainly need time alone

Balance again.
