I can just imagine a flood of emails and the system crash just reading the amount of people who have made comments here.
I was watching an old GP's programme yesterday.
A GP said he did not like people looking for a diagnosis on the Web as they got it wrong 9 out of 10 times. My thought - "You arrogant ---- perhaps if you got it right we would not need to and try listening for once instead of handing out your preconceived ideas to us." We could do without doctors with that attitude.
I am lucky, at long last, to have a good GP who listens and does something about it. But I have a list of 10 where it has been otherwise.

Makes me wonder if the converse is the actual truth and that maybe he only gets it right 10% of the time?
One of the advantages of having a malfunctioning body is that I have a catalogue of erroneous - and more particularly missed - diagnoses from Drs, which has boosted my confidence in dealing with them if they come that attitude! 😛😂
"Dr No got it wrong last time, so how about considering this and getting it right this time?" sort of thing!
If it wasn't for google I would be dead by now.
My partner went to doctors two months ago, with a new massive birthmark on the back of his neck.... he (the doctor) googled it !
Fobbed off ... it now appears it was broken blood vessel that leaked blood under the skin. Referred to dermatology for an appointment 3 months away.... at least it is now slowly disappearing.

Your post reminded me of a study I found last year regarding deaths in the US due to misdiagnosis. The minimum number of deaths is 250,000 and the high side is 400,000+ annually. That is a staggering number and really brings home the point, that most on this site have figured out, that each of us individually is solely responsible for our own health. What I mean by that is utilize your doctor as a source, as a partner in your quest for health. Do not think of them as all knowing. Here is link for interesting reading.

I quite agree that we are responsible for our own health.... too a point , that's why I advise everybody to do their own research. The point comes when even doctors do not take the advice of specialists as in my case.It's a complicated subject as we have nearly all faced the ignorance of b12 deficiency from the medical profession otherwise we would not be on this website.
Not everybody has access to the internet especially the elderly.
It is even more difficult now with restricted access to doctors !
The system won't last
In the current form I agree with you! The NHS needs to be reformed totally, they need to go back to basics and treat people as individuals and not assume blanket prescription or treatments are the same for everybody !
In the paper today a doctor reporting states
Care and kindness beats NHS box ticking. This was after his appalling treatment in hospital....
