Eye infection every 3-4 Weeks - PA link?

I am now having my 4th eye (both eyes) infection in 5 months. I have been using Chloramphenical 0.5% eye drops for 5 days (4 times a day) it gets rid of it but it recurs approx every 3-4 weeks. Contacted the Drs today who arranged for both eyes to be swapped this afternoon. Could this be linked to PA. I currently SI once a week and all my symptoms are at bay on this regime after 6 x 2 loading injections from Feb this year. B12 was very low (11) and I felt pretty rubbish. Feel great now but my eyes are not. It could be unrelated but wondered if anyone else has had this issue. Starts off waking up to both eyes being completely stuck together, red membranes and sore eyes ( like I have been crying for hours) after 2 days of drops it's better then goes away before the 5 days is up but I always finish the treatment time regardless.

Sounds lihe 'dry eye'I have this . They feel sticky and heavy.

Vision goes down too.

I've got loads if other symotons

Thus comes and goes.

I drink more water

Use moisture eye drops

Also tried vitamins gesred gor eye health.

I've not hadctgen infected though.

I think connected .

Sluice them 4x a day with cooled booked water.

That's what has helped me.

Also don't keep the house too warm

Put a iwlnof water on the room

Frequent infections is a symptom of B12 deficiency (and other conditions) but if you are on a regime that is keeping your symptoms at bay then it is unlikely that this is related to B12.The damage done by an eye infection can make you more susceptible - I had a couple of infections following a scratch - so it may be that you are unlucky.

It might also be worth getting a thyroid function test as there is a high probability of developing an auto-immune thyroid problem if you have PA and that can make you more likely to develop eye problems.

"Contacted the Drs today who arranged for both eyes to be swapped this afternoon. Sounds positively painful!! I hope you meant swabbed 🤔

My mother in law has similar problems with a conjunctivitis type infection in her eyes when stressed, she is on B12 tablets each day, which has helped enormously, and now only suffers about once a year.

Yes, I really hope so too - sorry LJH50! I shouldn't laugh 🤦‍♀️ I really do feel for you as always had very sore eyes, styes, even double vision etc. before injecting e.o.d. Wondering if increasing injections for a bit would help or taking a supplement with lutein, Zeaxenthin, etc. in it?

I haven't had eye problems since, only ear infections - which I'd never had before - but these resolved quickly with soothing colloidal silver spray.

Both my partner and I have had trouble with our eyes , not funny, but sometimes a good laugh now and again helps.

I so agree Sallyanni - sometimes the tensions of life get that laughter is a good release - I almost couldn't stop !

I also had frequent eye problems ( chronic stye infections) for years. I haven’t had one since injections started. ( fingers crossed!). I even had one a few years ago that spread into my cheek. The chronic itching in my eyes also seems better since B12 injections started. I have also found that using a baby shampoo wash to scrub my eyelids while in the shower each day keeps them less irritated.

I hope you find relief soon.
