I found out i have a zinc deficiency. I have PA and also exocrine pancreatic insufficiency. I am also currently suffering from chronic sinusitis and tinitus.
Do any of you have any experience of zinc deficiency?
I had a commercial genetic dna test a few years ago and i think the raw data says I have a mutation that causes acrodermatitis enteropathica - genetic zinc deficiency. Do anhy of you know how to read dna data?
Many thanks

Sorry to hear of your health problems. I’m dreadfully sorry I have absolutely no idea how to read DNA data, I doubt very much anyone else on here would. If you had this done privately then it’s worth going back to the company as many offer practitioner support.
I know very little about exocrine pancreatic deficiency but as a coeliac I was recommended to take a particular type of zinc by a qualified dietician and a functional health practitioner for healing the small intestine, if I remember correctly. I’d definitely recommend going down this route.
PA can cause tinnitus and it makes us more prone to infection.
Thank you - the company refuse to provide medical advice/diagnostics. No liability I presume.
I forgot about the tinitus/PA connection- i have chronic sinusitis which is more inner than facial, im sure the swelling is causing or exacerbating the tinnitus. Ive had it for as long as i can remember but was never an issue. Only this year has it changed considerably, coinciding with an ear infection and the chronic sinusitis.
The zinc can be treated with tablets and they will monitor it regularly regardless of the cause.
Hi Luca,
Hi, I cant really help you or advise you other that when I was first poorly about twenty years ago I had double stranded dna, and some of the causes are b12 deficiency and zinc. I eat meat and now I have a square of really dark chocolate every day (contains zinc), and may have vit C and zinc tablet occasionally.
Sorry I cant help you further, but I do know that zinc is a building block to good health.
Thank you, i was relieved when the result came through as I thought treatment should be relatively easy and effective. The gp said to take multivit/minerals as zinc can affect copper levels. I will get retested in a few months.
It is always a relief when you find out what is causing problems with health. The doctor saying zinc can affect copper levels is one reason I do not take zinc to often.
Yes ! It's a balancing act, zinc needs copper, copper needs zinc ..... but in the right balance, and its Far better to try and get vitamins through diet. Zinc is in Nuts and Red meat.
