Hi all just wondering if having a cold uses up more b12. I had a bad cold acouple of weeks ago and now feeling like I'm ready for my b12 jab but its not for a while yet

It could easily be the case as your body would have made lots of extra blood cells to fight the infection (lots of DNA uses lots of B12) plus it would have been working harder to get rid of the resulting breakdown products from these (anti-toxin activity) in your liver. And more would have been used in the process of energy release to provide the extra energy required to give you a temperature and for coughing, sneezing and snot production, etc.
I suspect there might be more to it too but that alone will deplete your resources.
The more severe the infection the longer it takes us to get over things, just because of the depletion of vitamins and minerals from our bodies and the time it takes for us to build our reserves back up. It doesn't help that we don't usually feel like eating well when we are ill.
If you get one thing on top of another - because your system is below par in the first place - it can make you feel even worse and take longer to recover from.
All makes sense, really.
