Difference between nerve repair and further nerve damage?

Hi all,

I’m really confused….

Does anyone know how to tell the difference between symptoms of nerve repair and further nerve damage?

Since my first injection nearly a year ago I am experiencing daily tingling sensations in legs and feet but unsure if that’s repair or further damage?!

I do not have pain, just weird sensations

If no pain thats great. Ivd found only time will tell.

Takes years to deplete sometimes yesrs to repair.

Depends on how long undiagnosed abd how quickly treatment starts .

It sounds to me more nerves waking up

🤞

Thanks Nackapan

Definitely no pain (thankfully)… it’s just demoralising because these weird sensations have been here SINCE injection 1 (not before) and they are just becoming annoying now🤯

I think nerve normal signal disruption cause tingling and dizziness since blood vessels muscles nerves signal disruption occur to get reserved fir repair and this make blood vessels go to relax mode and no oxygen reaches muscles. And takes time to have normal nerve signaling. Repairs require keto diet and exercise because Schwinn cells in PNS should stay away from sugar but have available fat ( saturated and non saturated fats) but be careful with constipation due to dairy and caffeine products. Patience is the most important part of healing in this disorder.

Yes I'm nearly at the 3 year mark.Alot of patience is needed I agree

I eat good fats.

Wouldnt consider the keto diet as always needed my carbohydrates.

Any drastic change in diet can cause some even more problems.

I've witnessed this many times fo am wary.

Exercise good

Of the right sort and what is manageable .

Thankyou for your thoughts .

Hoping you are improving.

You don’t say how often you get injections . I know that nerve healing can cause the tingling etc , as other members have mentioned . . Maybe more regular injections would hasten the healing process . It’s certainly worth a try . The knowledge that one can’t overdose on B12 is reassuring .

Also do supplement with a daily modest B9 ( folic acid ) tablet 400mcg . B12 and B9 work together .

Best wishes

Methyl folate or methyl B12 is required for methionine synthesis in B12 b9 cycle and also other B vitamins too and some rare elements in multivitamin.

Sometimes numbness goes unnoticed as over years, it becomes your "normal", especially if it is not main nerves that are affected. These larger nerves can be tested by a neurologist using electric current. Mine were fine. I did not even know when I was being injected into the back of upper arms for the first ten months - and had to keep asking "have you finished yet ?" By then I was getting injections twice a week. The day I felt it, I was quite happy to see this as progress.

Despite frequent injections, I still have two symmetrical patches of numb skin on outer shins - six years on. This does not affect the way I walk so is not a concern for me.

What frequency of injections are you having ?

If you look at the day's posts, you will find a reply from Sleepybunny to GO87 which has the medical guidance link for B12 treatment frequencies.

Look for the question "Can anyone advise me on what these blood tests mean ?"

I hear you! I am in the same situation. The tingling started after the first injection several months ago and has been with me on and off since. In the beginning it was in arms and legs and now it's almost only on the palms of hands and feet, so I think it's an improvement! I think my B12 was low for a long long time (at least 4 years, but probably longer).
