Small fiber neuropathy?

WanderingSassenach profile image

I went to a neurologist yesterday to see why I keep going numb in various places. He did a non needle EMG test and he said my nerves are fine.

But I still have numb, burning feet, and numb sensations from my c-section site up and down.

I asked about getting further testing to prove I have pernicious anemia and he said my hemoglobin is fine so you're not anemic.

I don't know what to do next so I'm going to a chiropractor asap to get some real treatment.

Doctors these days only care about the bottom line and refuse to do further investigation.

I had low levels back in November of 2020. I was put on monthly injections but it did not help with the numbness, tingling and pain. Then I found out earlier this year that I had low vitamin D. I was put on 50000 IU per week of vitamin D. My B12 was retested at that time and it was within range so they said no pernicious anemia. However, how do they explain all the issues I've been having?

How long were you on injections? How is your folate?

After the first loading injections (1 a week for 4 weeks) I've been getting a shot every month since January.

I get weekly injections and still have numbness tingling. It's getting better, but it takes time. I think you need more injections then you are getting.

My folate is within range.

I would insist you get a skin biopsy to see if you have small fiber neuropathy.

Not what you're looking for?
