Curious - injection frequency

Hi everyone

I know many of you on here have been injecting B12 for years and have figured much out from trial and error.

Honestly I am just curious, how often do you get injections and for how long has this been going on? It’s amazing to me how everyone’s body seems to need something different.

At this point for me I am injecting about every 12 days. I find this keeps me well enough. There have been times that I have needed to inject weekly. I’m still up and down but have made a great deal of progress. I was diagnosed B12 deficient in July 2020.

Hope you all are doing well!

I inject twice per day but can now sonetimes reduce to daily but not for long as symptoms start to come back. This is such a cheap medication I really dont know why GPs query frequency as having frequent enough jabs that suit you make a world of difference. At the weekend I did a three mile plus walk......couldnt have done that before and wasnt crashed out next day. It might not seem much but its amazing to me.

Wow, what an achievement - well done!

It's amazing how much improvement is possible, isn't it!

Thanks Denise. 😊 I'm delighted & surprised with the improvement. In total injecting for three years now, but after two I declined!.....but it was going gluten free that turned that around. It would never have happened if I hadn't pushed hard. The confidence to do that came from lovely people on this site. Thankyou!

Hi waveylines,Great about the walk.

I did not consider splitting doses until I read a couple of your posts. My symptoms of leg numbness would come back in the afternoon. So, thank you.

Glad it helped....the alternative is to increase the frequency.

I think that is amazing to walk thst far and be okay the following day too!!

Thank you Nackapan. I must admit am chuffed! 😊 Am 3 yrs in on injections, last year twice per day, previous two daily. Cant be a cell in my body which hasn't had a long hit of b12 surely! Frankly it makes me think the NHS B12 protocol is really inadequate.

I so agree with all you say WL. I try to walk a similar distance weekly on the salt marsh, alive with vast, changing skies, wading birds, perfect flora, sometimes deer appearing towards dusk........It makes life worth living🤗

I'd spaced out injections after worrying about supply but noticed it became harder to walk and was taking longer to recover. Since returning to injections e.o.d., I still rest up the following day or two after walking but notice it's not as badly needed.

1.5mg in 1ml every day for 6+ years.

Had a spell in the spring where my SIBO was under control and I was doing less, when I only needed about 4 or 5 jabs a week but am back to every day again now.

For SIBO have you already looked into changing diet and/or low stomach acid?

Yes, to some extent - I am quite scientific in my approach and so very methodically try all sorts of potentially sensible things over time - but I am so tied to what I have to eat because of my chronic pancreatitis and additional genetic malabsorption and metabolism problems that the SIBO has to be of lower priority, just because I thankfully do have the option of antibiotics to help control that.

Thank you so much for the suggestion and looking out for me. You have really helped me make progress with it to date.

Interesting Denise.....sorry to hear you had to increase back up. Somebody told me that they believe some of us loose the ability to retain any b12 hence the high frequency. That was thought provoking! Trouble is medics work on the basis that we can still store it if they can bypass the initial absorption issue from stomach....but in reality it is far more complex than that.

Yes no good in storage if ww cant release and use it! I sometimes think a drip would be good with a steady flow 🤔

Gosh, yes, wouldn't it just!Thank you for all your other inputs too!

Thank you for your replies. There's definitely more going on in some of us than the standard received thinking accounts for, isn't there!

I wish we could get someone to do some further research work but unfortunately the nature of the beast means most of us struggle to live day to day and don't get time to contact the universities, media, etc, to encourage the research that's needed.

I inject myself twice daily and have been doing this for 8 months. I was diagnosed one year and a half ago. Took 2 b12 daily for 5 months then was able to taper to one daily. But after only 3,weeks with a different b12 brand, a generic, my body completly regressed! My body was not able to absorb the different B12. So back to teo a day
