That might be why the Patient Information Leaflet says:

Warnings and precautions

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Pivmecillinam hydrochloride. The tablets must be taken with at least half a glass of fluid to prevent that the tablets get stuck in your food pipe

Thank you. I did that but it was awful and after the third tablet I gave up. I wondered if anyone else had the same problem because I’ve swallowed much bigger pills with no problem.

Given the way the PIL goes on about how to take the tablets, this is obviously a concern.

I note this advice:

4.3 Contraindications

Any conditions resulting in impaired transit through the oesophagus.

medicines.org.uk/emc/produc...

AND

4.4 Special warnings and precautions for use

The tablets must be taken with at least half a glass of fluid due to risk of oesophageal ulceration.

Could you have an issue with your oesophagus?

Anyway, I would put in a Yellow Card report (there is a pinned post about doing so). And contact the person who prescribed them for you.

Sorry I don’t know about the tablet.

The normal Urine and Bladder infections can usually be flushed out by drinking a few good quality pure cranberry juice bottles over a couple of days. Unless you have a more serious kind of infection which needs medical treatment.

Yes, I believe it’s the isolated form of the type of sugar in cranberries that stops bacteria adhering to the bladder walls.
