Do you have a B12 diagnosis, I wonder?

My late mother had Oral Lichen Planus, alongside the symptoms of Pernicious anaemia, but no diagnosis. Also, there may have been coeliac disease implicated. I am not trying to frighten you with this information, but urge you to persist in establishing the cause.

In addition, my mother had constant ulcers and a red, large tongue with an abnormal surface and the surface was removed when I was 12. I remember her not being able to say "morning love" because it hurt.

She died, aged 87, never having had a diagnosis despite many years of specialist appointments for her skin and mouth symptoms that were never connected to B12 deficiency. She died of C. Diff in hospital after painful radiotherapy for cancer of the tongue.

I have recently begun B12 injections at over 70, having had multiple symptoms for decades. I was lucky to connect with a doctor with an interest in B12 deficiency and then find this site, so I no longer feel like my symptoms were imagined. My pain has gone.

I have since discovered a great deal about B12 deficiency from this site, for which I am so grateful. I hope that the experienced members may be able to be more helpful.

I wish you well.

Hi Rose1bud, I was diagnosed with oral lichen planus and it’s on my skin in several places, oral is by far the worst, the whole of my mouth stings burns and tingles not a nice tingle. Mouth covered in white lacy sores especially on my tongue but also inner lips top and bottom, inside my cheeks even the roof of my mouth it’s sore it’s absolutely agony. It lasted 2 weeks almost couldn’t eat or drink, tried salt water gargling, pastels for ulcers even nystatin for oral thrush but nothing worked or even helped me. I did not have any idea what was wrong with my entire mouth, had splits in the corners which bled quite a lot and were very painful, lips tongue cheeks and face swelled up severely too. Now waiting for an appointment to have 3 punch biopsies done. I’m glad I searched this diagnosis on hereThank you for listening to me go on ☺️
