I have always been able to pick up a print out of my test results from my GP. but we moved house in Sept last year and joined a new practise, when I asked for a print out of my results they asked me to fill in a form after which I would have to wait approx 1 month to get the results. So I waited, even then it was a struggle to get them. Since then I have requested my results from other blood tests and ALWAYS have to jump through hoops to get them, to the point that one receptionist said I would have to fill in the same form and wait the same length of time ??.
I had a raft of blood tests done on Friday, they are important to me, I am having some kind of flare with either my PA or my Hashimotos since my second Covid jab, I have a feeling that one or more of my levels are VERY 'off', thing is, I Refuse to have any kind of conversation with the GP unless I can see my results, I understand that the GP will have to check them over first, but before I talk to him/ her, I want to know what they are.
I've seen in this group a letter I can send to the practise that outlines the procedure for allowing patients access to their blood tests but I can't find it :(.
Can Admin or someone in the techy know' point me in the right direction please.
Apologies if my post is a bit jumbled, but after a few years of being my own health advocate and medicating as and when appropriate, I appear to be suffering from unexpected and unexplained crippling anxiety, I know it is not psychological, I don't have any reason to feel anxious, it came on so quickly and it is now impacting my life big time. In relation to the test results, I would like a clear picture of what is going on BEFORE I talk to the GP
Can anyone help xxx

Hi Nackapan, thank you so much for your reply, ( Happy Birthday BTW). They are being difficult, but I am struggling to understand why. I had a telephone appointment with a GP at 8.30am on Friday, after my conversation with him, he asked me to come imediately to the surgery for a pile of blood tests. So now I want to know why, I think that because of my heightened anxiety ( the like of which I have never experienced before ) I am relating it to the vaccine, I am trying so hard to not Google Covid Vaccine and Autoimmune disorders, but that just makes it worse, I'm very very lost atm, I'm scared that having the vaccine has disrupted something that will be permanent, I guess I am being over dramatic, but I really do feel crap and out of control.
This could all be coincidence and i'm hoping that it will pass, but right now, I don't see a way out . I'm self employed and busy but whats going on with me right now is life limiting.
I take my hat off you for having the second astra zenicaYou have full cover. Hopefully that in itself should help you.
The physical anxiety you've got was sn severe symptom of mine until my b12 kicked in at the start after virtigo
I think its the fight or flight mode with your adrenaline or autonomic responses
It's horrid and totally unrelated ti emotional stress.
A mechanical thing.
I was told on a and e I wad havi g a panic attack as no causes found at tge time. . I wad not bur certainly mind over matter played a big part of staying sane.
Or if you are naturally predisposed to anxiety must be very hard to separate the two.
The first vaccine e certainly shook my nervous system. Vision down. Shaky. Anxious chest tightness. Breathless. I could go on.
Did have bloods done. Surreal experience getting to the hospital.
I had it in April and certainly dont feel strong enough to take a second hit yet.
Try and give yourself time fir your body to recover
I'm feeling calmer now but fatigue on fatigue.
I think when yiyr body is dealing with anything extra we struggle.
I remember thinking thus us what the start of covid would be like the sink or swim feeling.
Hoping that a strong reaction gives very good protection
Hope you back on track soo .
Keep us posted TC
BTW I've read meds for thyroid have Bern lowered fir many or even stopped after their covid vaccination so verygood bloods all done.
Hi Nackapan, thank you so much for your reply, I can only liken the anxiety to a spiral thing, the crippling anxiety kicked in about 4 days after the second jab, I didn't have it with the first one.
Then I think I was making it worse by being anxious about being anxious lol . Gawd knows tbh, I do feel like my thyroid is inflamed, it hurts a bit and sometimes the pain extends to my ears. I'm thinking that the vax has possibly caused me to become Hyperthyroid, i do know that I can't take even the lowest dose of thyroxine, it send the anxiety through the roof.
I am not aware/can't remember a letter on this forum but you do have rights under GDPR to access your dataThis is a link to the Information Commission Officer site cover subject access rights
It does look as if your GP is in breach of what they should be doing by insisting on filling out a form - probably following very old guidelines pre-dating GDPR. Unfortunately they do have up to 1 month to respond.
Hi Gambit, thank you for the reply, I have now registered with the NHS site, so hopefully I should be able to see my results after the doc has seen them. I do know that I will be refusing to discuss any issues with my tests until I have seen them myself.

NHS App is the easiest way to see test results. It also has your vaccination history including COVID jabs. Once you have registered, you will need to ask your GP practice to switch on the interface between their patient record system and NHS App. If they are unwilling to do this, ask NHS England to intervene and they will ensure you get access.
The NHS app is only available on England - not the other three nations - Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. (Just to avoid people looking for something they cannot get or use.)
The answer to this could be to ask the GP for printouts- bypass receptionists altogether. My GP automatically prints out copies for me now of anything I don't have (most hospitals have a transparency policy of sending feedback reports to both patient and GP). During covid, I have picked copies of blood tests up from reception without a problem. You could point out that having copies in advance of an appointment will mean a shorter time going over results during the appointment. Especially useful to pore over results if you have cognitive issues, and helps you to compare with previous results, pre-empting any downward trends means earlier detection of any potential problems. You can then keep a note of what you want to ask.
Actually getting an appointment ? - that's the hard bit !
The medical information about you is your's, after all, and in some countries, like Greece for example, they are totally your own responsibility. No reason for reception to make life harder for you (and your GP).
I have full access to my GP health records via a website called systmonline.tpp-uk.com (they also have an app called Airmid). My practice provided the username and initial password to access my data. Have a look on your practice website and see if you can see any reference to Systmonline or any other mention of online access. It is a legal requirement to provide you with online access to your records.
You should be able to view and print off any blood tests that you have had within the last 6 months ,if you get the NHS app ( not the one for covid tracing ) Also other health records. .
Morning all, thank you so much for all your help, it worked, I signed up for the NHS app and my results were posted there yesterday xx Brilliant advice as always
