Hard lump and slight bruise at injection site

Hi all, been SI for about 12 months now and, apart from the occasional bit of slight pain, I've never had any issues.

This morning, injecting as usual, I pulled back the plunger - no blood - but about half-way through I noticed I had tilted the syringe/self-injector device slightly to the side without realising.

Upon pulling out the syringe, blood poured out. Stopped within 10 seconds and I cleaned it up and put a plaster on but I immediately had a hard lump.

I have to admit, I'm a bit concerned now. Is this something that can happen? I've obviously nicked a blood vessel and I'm thinking that, with the syringe tilted, I may have injected a little higher than usual and now the B12 has pooled there?

Pic attached below. You can't really see the lump but it's definitely there! I've seen a few posts talking about the red liquid pooling beneath the surface but this is blue, so unsure whether it's bruising. I'd assume so though.

FYI I inject subcut, not IM. But never had this issue before.

I think it's fine. If you massage it or put a warm flannel it should disperses any b12 pooled there The blue is most likely a bruise from the bleed.

I do subcutaneous b12 too.

My husband has had the same as you as Injects insulin sc.

I showed him youf photo.

So a warm compress

The later a cold one fof bruising

I'm not medical but this is our experience.

Get a medic to look if still concerned.

Horrid

Thanks! I'll do that now. Hopefully it'll recede over the next 24 hours.

Appreciate the advice too, as I am a bit concerned.

I frequently got lumps and bruises when I tried to inject into my thighs, so I gave up. Now I usually have my partner do them for me, IM in arms and SC in back and stomach. (I used to do IM in hip but hit a nerve once and it scared me for a couple weeks.) Those lumps and bruises can take quite a while to go away but they do eventually. 🙂
