Hello, I always like to check in every 6 months or so to see if there are any other people around my age that are dealing with PA and similar problems. I have been on injections for over a year and was diagnosed at age 20. I have almost no symptoms and have been able to get back to my normal life. Reach out to me if your feeling down low because it took me a lot of positive feedback and around 6 months to fully recover.
Anyone below 30 have PA?: Hello, I... - Pernicious Anaemi...
Anyone below 30 have PA?
My daughter was undiagnosed for many years. Has been on regulat b12 injections for 4-5 years now. She is 29I'm so glad to hear of a full recovery with proper treatment.
Timing and age is on your side.
Our local PAS support group have three people below 30. Out of less than 20!
HI! I was 23 when i was diagnosed. Now i am 36 and doing good, have a pretty active lifestyle. Once treated, PA is no longer a death sentence. Learning to listen to your body is the key to keep everything in balance ((hugs))
Do you know what might have caused your PA?
I have no idea. My father is coeliac. I have Graves disease (hyperthyroidism), in remission, and PA came out when my doctor was investigating vitamin and mineral deficiencies. I don't know which one came first. At that time, I was a complete mess and i thought i was about to die. Didn't have the guts to ask for help, because i wasn't emotionally prepared for an official diagnosis.I am the first and only case of both diseases in both sides of the family. My brother and Sister don't have any autoimmune disease. I guess i am the Lucky one 😀
I was diagnosed a few years ago in my early 30s. My gran (on my dad's side) also had P.A. from a young age, so at least I know why I do too. It came on pretty suddenly for me I went straight to blacking out frequently but luckily it also got better quickly too (though I do self inject to make it monthly as three monthly is not often enough).
