I've been doing some research and it seems like my symptoms tend to be a more rare result of B12 deficiency and was wondering if anyone else has experienced these. I have had the common symptoms of pins and needles and burning in my hands and feet, however, these occur less frequently. My face has been most affected. I get crawling sensations on both sides. At my temples on both sides I get burning, pins and needles, and tingling. Along with occasional numbness. My ears and back of my head occasionally get these symptoms as well. I was wondering if anyone else experienced these symptoms on their face and if B12 injections were successful in treating it. I started injections last week and the symptoms have appeared to get worse over this past week.

Yes I had alot of facial symptoms. Numbness, crawling sensation. Pain behind my ears . Pressure on top of my head. Vision changes tinnitus . Pains up the back of my head. Really bad migraines/ vestibular headaches. Eye socket pain.
Alot of my symptoms got worse before better as the nerves 'woke up'
Sounds as though you have caught it in time.
You are early in your treatment.
Try and go with the flow and hopefully it will resolve . Keep going with the b12 frequently until no more improvements then review frequency. T c
They can easily get worse before they get better as the nerves heal.
If my B12 isn't working properly, due to malabsorption of my supporting supplements, I still get it sometimes across my forehead.
You may need to have more injections than your Dr is inclined to give you though.
You may well also benefit from a broad spectrum multivitamin and mineral supplement, and may be extra folate, potassium, magnesium, iron and vitamin D, ideally from your diet.
I have borderline b12 so am not certain that my symptoms are due to b12 deficiency but I have tingling in hands and feet, calves, shoulders and in my lower face mainly around my lips and nose. The tingling in my hands and feet has improved slightly on my B12 injections but my face has stayed the same so far.
Point 1 in above link is about under treatment of B12 deficiency with neurological symptoms present. The link has letter templates that people can base their own letters on.
Letters avoid face to face confrontation with GP and allow patient time to express their concerns effectively.
Best to keep letters as brief, to the point and polite as possible. It's harder to ignore a letter in my opinion.
Table 1 in above article is about frequent misconceptions about B12 deficiency.
A warning ......
B12 deficiency is not always well understood by GPs and specialists so it pays to be well prepared for any appointments.
I've written some very detailed replies with lots of B12 info eg symptoms lists, causes of b12 deficiency, more useful B12 books, more B12 articles, hints about how to deal with unhelpful GPs etc that you may find of interest.
