Refeeding syndrome & B12

I am a member of a different forum and someone has brought refeeding syndrome to my attention. The thought is that since we are flooding our systems with B12 after being deficient for some time we are experiencing refeeding syndrome if symptoms get worse, new one arise, regression occurs. It’s an interesting thought and I’m wondering if anyone has ever heard anything about it.

.My understanding of this condition is if someone has been starved of all food Electrolytes get imbalanced

So usually the safest way to treat people is by drip until the balance is better. Then slowly introduce food.

If no drips available rice with salt and sugar is given.

Thiamine can help perhaps that's what you are thinking.

With B12 deficiency for any reason I think it's the awakening of nerves that causes you sometimes to be more ill afte initial treatment.

I will be interested of any others with thoughts

Thank you for the reply. I too thought it applied to the reintroduction of food/nutrients after long periods of time. It was the first time I ever heard of someone bring it up in terms of B12 so I thought I would throw it out there and see what comes up. Thanks again
