Has anyone with PA ever been diagnosed with RA? It looks like I might have it - just had the xray's today, and blood tests tomorrow. If it is confirmed, another condition to add to my list for my weary body. 
Just feeling a little low. My hands in particular are so painful and sore.

Oh, so sorry to hear that Jollydolly. Not surprised you’re a little low. And it can be extremely painful until appropriate RA medications kick-in - in the meantime, perhaps your GP could prescribe something for the pain?
I don't have RA - my other autoimmune beast is Lupus - that's not much fun either!

Thank you Foggyme - I appreciate your help and kindness. I am finding my hot water is my best buddy at the moment, gives quite a lot of pain relief. Needless to say, I have had to take my wedding ring off. Even going to the hospital today, made me so weary. I am hoping I might feel a little better after tomorrow, as I will also be having my B12 jab.

Do warm gloves give any relief? Or a hot water bottle.
You will have to forget about peeling potatoes for a while. Get them already done if no one else to peel them or other veg . Make a few changes
My daughter uses quite simple hand supports you velcro into place. Also special cutlery and aids. She eventually saw a hand pysio. The first person to give her real practical help. Good grips and oxo make things that help too.
I think avoiding certain foods as well can help.

Not tried the gloves yet, but my husband bought me a hand warmer for Christmas. I thought the coldness and pain was because of my thyroid condition! The hand warmer has been a Godsend, but also my hot water bottle has become a good friend in recent days.
I have had to take my wedding ring off due to the swelling on the joints. My husband does most of the peeling thankfully. But I think the cutlery might be something to consider. Gripping is hard as I can't form a fist.
Thanks for the advice on the cutlery. That is a good idea. I have heard of the hand supports too.

I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis when I was about 42 , . It attacked me very badly for about 6 months , then disappeared for a few years . Then it had another go for several months , and disappeared again . It now only affects the joints at the base of my thumbs , which are a bit deformed and painful now . Pernicious Anaemia diagnosed 30 years later . I manage that with self injections once a week .
I’m not on any medication for R.A. now .

I also have PA. A couple of my fingers are slightly odd in shape, but I can definitely not form a fist on either hand. I am hoping that the damage might be limited for a while with help via medication and possibly some form of physio.
I am glad your RA is managed well and you no longer need medication.

I'm awaiting blood test results for this (also intrinsic factor), had the test 8th July! I'm struggling to make a fist at times, my little fingers especially affected and my wrist hurt yesterday. Im worried that ill end up not being able to drive, if it is that
Unfortunately I chose to give up driving a while ago for other reasons, but I do feel for you. My main problems are that my three middle fingers on each hand, prevent me from forming a fist, so find it hard to grip, especially the left hand. So typing with mainly right hand.
I was surprised I had the xray results back today and so quickly. But it has been confirmed I have two types in my hands which is RA and osteoarthritis, and the osteoarthritis in my feet. The blood tests were done today, so might be back tomorrow with a bit of luck.
If I were you, I would ring for your results Roses46, it might be a mistake on their part not phoning you.
