So I just stated b12 injections and my doc ordered an IF test and threw in another b12 test but this was three days after I had 3 injections. Normal range is 232-1245 but my results came back >2000 so obviously I am pumped full of b12! (But it’s doesn’t feel like it!) has this every happened to anyone?

Yes, every time I have a B12 test it comes back above the top of the measurable range. Luckily nobody is bothered by it.
If you had just had three injections then that is 3,000 mcg - or 3,000,000 ng. If you have about 60 L of water in your body, and if all that B12 was evenly distributed, then you would have about 50,000 ng/L in your blood. Is it any wonder the levels are sky high.
They've just filled you full of B12 and then measured it...... ????
My GP tested mine twice after starting me on injections: both times, it was over 2,000 ng/L (the measurable limit) so she was happy with that and never measured it again. She said it would be a waste of time.
This is going to take a while. In the meantime, plenty of reading to do ; your GP, not you !
Just had this yesterday. Didn't look at the requisition. If I had I would have had a conversation about it, and asked for a change. When I opened up at the lab, thinking it was one test needed and discussed, there were at least ten items checked off. I said to the receptionist - please tell me she doesn't have b12 on there?
Yes she does.
Big fat sigh. It affects going to other doctors. One told me I didn't habe a vitamin b12 deficiency because he saw the 440 after loading, not the original 103. I am bold and upfront with them. But it is exhausting.
I haven't seen her since diagnosis, because of this exact issue. Thinking one needs to keep checking it, and worse - giving thoughts to the number.
