Active B12

Morning All

My results from medicheck says I'm in the normal range as my active B12 is over 150 pmol but less than 187 pmol. Not sure why 187 as it seems a random number.

I do take weekly injections so I'm guessing that's why it is high.

Never had my active B12 checked, so did it more out of curiosity. Would you say it seems normal.

I would say that it seems very high. Which is what you'd expect if you inject frequently.

Normally, 'active' B12 is about one-fifth the total B12. So a value of 150 pmol/L would translate to a serum B12 of 750 pmol/L or over 1000 ng/L

“Normal range” means nothing to a GP! I was “low normal” yet in severe pain and pretty much stumbling all over the place with brain fog and extreme fatigue. It took a Neuro to figure out my condition. I am thankful for the Neuro but so frustrated to have had to suffer when all it came down to were some simple blood tests!! Sheesh!!!!
