Hi all, my latest count is 280 it's on the lower side, but in the "normal range" so the doctor wants to wait 6 months and test me again? I've had injections for 9 years and always felt borderline symptomatic. Has anyone else had this experience, and is 280 low? ( even though it's considered in the normal range ) Thanks!

Is 280 too low?
Hi,
In UK, if you are symptomatic for B12 deficiency with other causes of symptoms excluded and your B12 level is within range, GP should treat you.
Unfortunately there seem to be many GPs in UK whose understanding of B12 deficiency is limited.
I suffered for many years with typical symptoms with all my B12 results apart from one well within range.
I wrote very detailed replies on another forum thread with links to B12 deficiency symptoms lists, causes of b12 deficiency, info about tests for PA, B12 books, B12 websites, UK B12 documents, letters to GP about B12 deficiency and other B12 info which you might find helpful.

The pandemic has affected B12 treatment in UK . Many UK forum members have had treatment stopped/delayed/frequency reduced or swapped for oral tablets.
If you are B12 deficient and in UK you may find it difficult to persuade GPs to treat you.
I'm not medically trained.
thanks...will keep an eye on how I'm feeling over the next 6 months
I suggest you look at the symptoms lists in the thread I linked to in my post above.
I got to the point I had spinal symptoms and that was with b12 results within 300 - 500 ng/L. If I had continued without treatment I am pretty sure I would have developed dementia and spinal cord damage.
I hate the thought of someone suffering like I did.
If you suspect you have B12 deficiency, please seek support. Untreated B12 deficiency can lead to permanent neurological damage.
