I recently was prescribed weekly injections to do at home. Do they have to be IM? Or can they be done subcutaneous?

You can do either. I and others do IM but many do SC.

Is there a difference in absorption?

I’ve read here one may be faster or slower than the other but I get the impression that as both ways work it’s best deciding on which method to use based on which is easiest for you.

No, 100% of it is absorbed, either way. As long as there's no leakage.

One may be better than the other because the dose is absorbed more slowly. But nobody knows which is slower, if either. It's likely that the difference will be insignificant.

Intramuscular-IM: in the muscle

Subcutaneous-SC: in the tissue not the muscle
