Am I Crazy?

Have recently increased B12 injections from every other week to every week. My symptoms are better now, I can almost forget when it's time for a jab. When it was every 14 days, I would have trouble around day 6 and then even out a bit and then have trouble day 10 until the jab. I now have few symptoms but I still get to day 6 and feel like the world is coming to an end. I have some normal stresses and I can't tell if my moods are reasonable or not. How is it possible that weekly jabs aren't enough? Am I just going to be like this forever?

Hi Emmers5 there are folks on here who self inject every other day .

So your'e not "crazy".

How long is a piece of string? No-one can say how much longer you will need to carry on as you are - hopefully you will get to the point where you are stable with a lower frequency but we are all different.

I am not a medically trained person but have had P.A. for more than 47 years and I know that my B12 injections are for life.

I wish you well

There are lots of us who need daily or even twice daily injections so if you need it at six or five days then it's not a problem.

Some people have been doing very frequent jabs for decades to good effect. It is still not fully understood why, but if you need it, you need it!

If you do, you will probably also benefit from a broad spectrum multivitamin and mineral supplement plus extra folate, potassium, magnesium and maybe iron and vitamin D, ideally from your diet.

I know what you're saying, I was doing great on a jab every 5 days so i thought I'd span it out to 7 and after a few weeks I'm feeling crap again. I've stayed at 7 just in case I was just having a bad few days, done too much or what ever but I've been off it for a couple of weeks now so will try increasing again. It's all trial and error I suppose!

Hi Emmers5,

I am still injecting every other day, coming out of loading with neurological issues, and will start to experiment what works best for my symptoms soon. As far as extending the time between shots.

I started to self-inject precisely because my symptoms were returning waiting for a scheduled shot (once a month).

I will be in exactly the same situation that you're expressing in your post, when I start stretching it out. Meaning I won't hesitate to go more frequently if it doesn't go well with symptoms returning.

Plus I have learned a ton on here from those who are experienced and way more knowledgeable. One point is if you are injecting cyanocobalamin - I am -you might (or do?) need more frequency. And in general that everyone is different with frequency needs.

It is so very comforting to have this site.

So no you're certainly not the mayor of Crazytown!

Best wishes going forward.

I was doing fine on injections every 10 days - I thought.

What I hadn't noticed was that my mood changed quite drastically over that period. For a few days after a jab I was fine, then I slowly grew more and more irritable, depressed and paranoid. The paranoia made me think that the problem was with everybody else, not me.

When I tried increasing the frequency it all got a lot better. Now I inject twice a week. If I forget one and leave it a week then people who know me recognise the change.

Your comments are all so helpful. It is so hard to tell if it's the B12 or if I'm just a crabby old paranoid bat. I was the mayor of crazy town for so long I just can't tell what's what anymore, and some of the symptoms are so subtle or can be explained by a bad day.
