Normal blood tests

Hi does anyone else have all the symptoms of hyperthyroidism but blood tests come back normal? I feel so poorly and have for about 10 years. I am 60 now and would love to be able to feel well in my later years.

Do you have PA which is an autoimmune illness? Thyroid problems are frequently autoimmune related and it’s not uncommon to have more than one such illness. For example, I have Graves’ disease (overactive thyroid), PA and vitiligo.

I agree with the answer given by Nackapan that the best place for your post would be the Thyroid forum. It would help them give you the best answers if you provide details of all thyroid related test results (including ranges) when you post your question.

Me! I’ve had hypo symptoms since 1977 & had a diagnosis of FM ten years ago.

I gave up with the ignorant endo’s after two years of hog wash, read a lot, then started to self medicate successfully, though there’s been a few hiccoughs. I have a pituitary tumour. which I’m convinced is my issue as I still have some unusual symptoms. Information from the Pituitary Foundation led me to Thyroid UK & the wonderful forum on here.

The advice on TUK’s forum re diet & supplements as well as what to take & where to get it has improved my health after 40 years of being cold, feeling ill & increasingly struggling. The admins & people on the forum are knowledgeable & extremely helpful. Injecting B12 seems to be one if the missing pieces of my health jigsaw, though I’m still falling apart.

Join the TUK forum, ask your GP to test for thyroid antibodies which may confirm Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, the most common autoimmune form of hypothyroidism. Try doing the Barnes basal body temperature test to back up your blood test results (take your temperature first thing before you get out of bed for 3 months). Read up on the nutritional cofactors you need for good hormone production & conversion, & make sure your diet & gut health is good. It only takes one nutritional deficiency or intolerance to throw a spanner in the works. Many folks feel better on a gluten free or dairy free diet. Some people have private blood tests if their GPs refuse thorough testing. There are often discounts available via TUK’s forum. I can’t afford the tests as well as thyroid meds & eating well, so I ensure I do the latter effectively. I now use Metavive NDT (natural dessicated pig thyroid 🤢) available online in the U.K. rather than import it from the US, along with OTC T3 (liothyrinine sodium) from Greece.

I travel to Greece armed with lots of pain meds & wear very very comfortable shoes as it’s hard to find. Methylcobalanin is also available OTC but it stings, as the nice pharmacist mimed. 🙃💉🥵

I bought Articlox Hydroxocobalamine by Unipharma B12 whilst living in Greece. Under 5 euro for a pack of 3 phials and 3 syringes. Cobalamin with B9 also available I believe. I Self-inject in the thigh - very rarely stings - but then I do not use a wipe before injecting ! Very Greek ! Well stocked now that I am UK based

I'm sure that's the brand I bought for 4.50 euros, 3x2mls so twice the size of my usual German B12. I tried a few locations for injecting, thigh being easiest, then my buttock as the nice Greek pharmacist had mimed, but it stung far more. I "kindly" shared most of it & kept a few as a reminder not to run out of the other stuff.

Hope life back in Blighty isn't too cold for you Marz ? I had heatwave weather for T3 shopping last month, it was a shock coming home.

Do you have PA? B12 deficiency?

Because I had thyroid symptoms and was just my deficiency which they never checked for. An aunt who is not a doctor but suffering from it diagnosed me

Check you b12 levels (MMA, HCY, B12 Active test) treat if required and see if your symptoms disappear since your thyroid function appears normal like mine
