Injection Site Rotation

A few years after a diagnosis for pernicious anaemia, I am still unwell. I‘m light headed, the fog hanging over me constantly, unable to keep my balance, numbness in hand and foot, etc etc. I’ve been building up the courage to self inject, as the doctor told me that research shows that more regular b12 injections don’t improve the above symptoms and that some of those symptoms are probably permanent. Last night I managed to inject in my right thigh. I have had a thrombosis in my left calf which caused chronic damage. The doctor told me that the blood supply to my leg would find another route to find its way past the chronic damage. My question is: As injection sites should alternate, should I still inject into the thigh of this leg. Many thanks

you might want to think about injecting sub-cutaneously rather than IM if you are doing IM.

If you are doing subQ then you can also use the stomach as a rotation site ... or you could develop a rotation sight on your thigh.

You really need to speak to your doctor about using the left thigh as you really need the opinion of a qualified medic.

Thank you for the advice Gambit62. I’ll try subcutaneous injecting. Will I get the same benefit as injecting intramuscular? Thanks again

studies don't show much difference between IM and SQ other than IM seems to get it into your blood quicker but not that much quicker
