I take it to my local chemist . No problem , though it’s best to ask first .No all chemists do it.

It varies by region.

My local council will pick it up and replace it with a new one.

Others have chemists that will accept them.

Some use a needle exchange scheme.

Still others use a friendly vet.

I would start at the council website (google mytown council clinical waste'), then ask a local pharmacy.

My local surgery swap mine even though they stopped supplying my jabs.

If you go into your local hospital's out patients department with it and hang about looking vague someone will usually come and swap it for you, even before you get a chance to ask at a desk!

If you are prescribed by a doctor you can fill in a form and Medisort will do a collection from your house. If not, I take them to a local office and exchange for an empty box with no problem.

I changed mine (Anticoag) at the pharmacy attached to our local doctors’ surgery. Took me about ten years to fill my 1 litre box with used Coaguchek testing strips and Softclix needles, after my PE. I’m about halfway up the new box.

Just needles and ampoules in my partner’s B12d box; the syringes go out with the regular trash. Could take even longer to fill this one.

How romantic - His and Hers sharps boxes, side by side in the bathroom :-)

EDIT: When you are ready to dispose of the full box, press the lid down really hard. This seals it so that it can’t be opened again normally, and seals in the hazardous waste for safe disposal. Generally by incineration.

I was told my local fire house would take them (USA). Haven’t tried that yet
