Advice on starting subcutaneous injections for PA

Hi I have PA and have been self injecting IM for about 2 years. I'm now struggling to find places that aren't painful to inject into (usually use my thighs) and am even starting to struggle with looking at the long needle before I inject. For the first year or so this wasn't an issue. So recently I asked my GP to prescribe subcutaneous needles which he has done. Just looking for advice on the best injection sites etc and generally any helpful tips. Also is subcut as effective as IM? I usually inject every 3 to 4 weeks. Thank you in advance.

I can't help with the process itself, but I can say that many people on this site inject SC and are quite happy with the results.

There's no reason why SC should be worse than IM. Indeed, there are reasons why it might be better. But any difference is going to be fairly small.

SQ is usually done either into the thigh or into the stomach - suggest you take a look at the rotation regimes recommended for diabetics

rotating is particularly important if the injections are frequent - every day or every few days.

Best to rotate from buttocks to thighs and stomach They are less painful than I M injections as less deep . Diabetics usually inject 4x a day. Try not to use the same spot as you csn get lumps . Probably only if 4x a day though . Hope you find it better for you.

Hi, I inject once a week now and into my little bit of fat below my belt. I find it much less painful, and tell myself it takes a little longer to be absorbed in to the blood
