Been to docs told him all symptoms, he wanted to know if I was depressed huh! He said forget your b12 it's not that and wants me to have physio for the pins and needles and anti depressants. My B12 was up 500 I told him I had been taking sublingual b12 but he wasn't interested. I think at this point I will buy private and self inject.

Oh dear. Can you not see another doctor? I've been exhausted trying to convince doctors I'm not depressed. Last consult she didn't even ask...hurrah. Also hasn't stopped weekly b13 injections

She has said to eventually get them to 3 monthly . Actually it was agreed 2 monthly. Have you had any injections? I wonder why they did another b12 blo od test? The amount of antidepressants dished out is awful

Not had injections just a sublingual spray under tongue. They did another blood test because she didn't understand the first. My B12 is up to 588 now but still getting symptoms. I suspect they will be like for a while.

I had a doctor claim I was suffering from depression because of b12 symptoms but, as with your situation, I couldn’t see how the doctor made such a connection. In fact, I have come to believe that the majority of doctors that I have consulted should be sacked not just because they are ignorant of something that, for their patients sake, they should be trying to understand but because they believe they know best based on pure prejudice.

If one has a large amount of b12 in ones blood and one is still feeling ill how does this lead a doctor to believe that removing injections will improve this situation?

It sounds to me like your best option! It's easy and inexpensive and gives you your life back so is well worth it.

The only caveat is that extremely rarely someone gets an allergic reaction to the jab so it is suggested that you do your first jab at a health centre where you could be cared for if there was a problem. It is only a minute possibility and I doubt beauty clinics that use B12 are prepared, but hey!

Ideally you should persuade your Dr to give you one trial jab but otherwise I know some people have taken their jab to a hospital and done their first one there but its far from an ideal, relaxed atmosphere that helps initially.

True. I had adverse effects to both hydroxocobalamin and cyanocobalamin. Methylcobalamin was like magic! I have seen many others who have had very different outcomes in their situation.

Low B12 can cause depression and the anti depressants help with nerve pain and are sometimes given to people with nerve pain who don’t have depression.

Nerve pain relief is the second function of some anti depressants.

Your doc asked you if you feel depressed because it’s one of the symptoms of Low B12.

So he’s not wrong.

I don’t know of your B12 problems but just answering this question, but in general most people have a great problem getting the right treatment for B12 problems especially injections.

Sorry, just a correction.....Your doc may be wrong about sending you physio or antidepressants as that doesn’t help pins and needles.

So you’re right about the fact that the problem can be B12 related, and because you’ve been supplementing with B12, it can show up as high in your blood but the body being unable to use it due to absorption problems (through your gut), that is a possibility.
