I've been so grateful for the support on this site. I am having one last try at getting my injections reinstated (stopped after asking for more frequent injections due to returning symptoms). Is there a piece of research or document that mentions that falling b12 levels shows or may show absorption problems? (Mine fell from 750 to 350 over 6 months when injections were stopped last year but while still supplementing with pills and oral spray). Many thanks x

I can't think of any research that shows B12 levels will decrease that quickly if there's an absorption problem. That's possibly because it might seem too obvious. If the coolant level in my radiator keeps getting lower then it's probably because there's a leak and I'm not topping it up frequently enough.
However, your levels have dropped from top of the range to mid-range. It could be that 350 is your 'natural' level of B12 and that it would stay around 350 forever without injections.
Thanks for your reply, both good points. Symptoms returned before 350 test (and 750 was 6 weeks after an injection). Docs not interested in trying to find what is causing symptoms or anything. Felt like normal functioning human being with 8 weekly injections at last place!
I'm afraid that it looks as if you are going to have to go down the self-injection route.
Before that I would try writing to your doctor explaining that you believe that your lack of treatment is putting you at risk of neurological impairment as described in point 4 of the syummary of this document - onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi...
Print out that document, highlight the relevant paragraph and include it with the letter. It may be that the doc will be unwilling to be exposed to the possible repercussions if you were to suffer neurological impairment as a result of inaction.
Then I'd join the PAS (if you're not already a member - pernicious-anaemia-society.... ) and give them a ring. They can contact your doctor's practice and explain things.
This article could support your case. Download the PDF it's free. In one case one patients level dropped from 1500 to 750 in one month. If nothing else this data shows that everyone is different.
Another interesting study. The graphs are the most interesting part. They only cover 2 days but its good showing the blood concentration drop following injection/sublingual.
