Active B12 levels

Hi I’ve recently received some blood results and was after some advice.

My active B12 says >128 with the reference range being >35.

My question is if it says I’m >128 does this mean my levels are too high? It doesn’t give a higher end to the reference range so I’m not sure what to think.

The reason I am concerned is because I also had elevated ALT of 61 and I have read a link between high active b12 and liver disease.

Any thoughts

Thanks :)

Are you taking any supplements? That is the main cause of high B12.

Have you discussed your concerns with your doctor?

I have a dr appointment tomorrow, I take a breastfeeding multi that only has 2.6 of B12 in it, so I don’t think that would cause such a high level.

presume you mean 2.6mcg - definitely not a large enough dose to cause the raised B12.

I am afraid you really need to follow up with your GP given the elevated ALT (though not sure how elevated your result would be without the range
