So here are the latest results for me. Can anyone share insights. I believe these indicate no Hashimoto but possibly a connection between homocysteine and my low b12 levels. Is this correct. Don’t see the naturopath for a couple days. Have not started b12 shots yet as we wanted to have results on hand first.
Thanks everyone for your help.

I see. But my symptoms have been improving slowly albeit and my b12 levels are increasing from diet alone. I had been under high stress for past 8 years. I know probably way too long. And last year and half I’d been trying to cut meat out entirely from my diet. Just to be healthier.
My magnesium levels were at the bottom of the range in November but haven’t been checked since. So that’s next for me. I’m eondeing if maybe this could cause all my weird symptoms. Also I came off my IUD and I’ve read on the Mirena crash apperantly it can cause havoc with hormones.
This is so difficult to pin down grr and my gp offcourse is not very helpful. Unless stress and anxiety can cause all this but my brain doesn’t feel anxious. Just my body feels vibrating often
Thanks for your reply. I hope I figure this out soon. It’s been so long. Would you not agree though that if I try one shot of b12 it’s not going to hurt anything and if I find improvement then identify possible cause. Why else would the levels be increasing?
Yes. My levels have been increasing luckily I paid to have them tested again not on my dr radar. Yes I’ve thought about doing the pills but won’t that take forever and if a single or couple injections help me faster what’s the harm?
I can either get the methyl or cyno shits both available in Canada. I’ve been like this for a year and want to get back to my old self sooner than later. Also I realized I was developing brown pigmented spots on my face didn’t know why but now on liver cleanse and they are going away. Not sure if it’s the liver cleanse or b12 levels going up I think most likely the former. As my liver enzymes were on higher side 31/36
It is fairly usual for those with PA/B12def. to find their symptoms return after overdoing exercise or undergoing stress, so I imagine that long term stress could well affect the immune system detrimentally, as well as adrenals, thyroid etc. The brown spots could well be vitiligo - another autoimmune disease and I'm sure you already know that. once you have one, could lead to others.
I believe Dr Chandy, on his B12org. website, states that B12 deficiency affects all systems - nervous, digestive, cardiovascular, endocrine, ear, nose and throat, as well as the immune system. I can't imagine the long term stress and conditions you must have endured in Afghanistan but there can surely be no doubt that it is at the bottom of what you are going through now. Having seen the affect of stress to a milder degree on my sister with severe B12def, and experiencing extreme anxiety myself, I'm left in no doubt that stress contributes and exacerbates a deficiency.
The BMJ guidelines and latest BMJ research document summary only below (full document behind a paywall) both state that there is no reliable test and emphasise the importance of treating neurological symptoms without delay to avoid permanent damage:
"What are the clinical features of vitamin B12 deficiency?
The clinical manifestations of vitamin B12 deficiency (fig 2⇓),3 5-7 9 13 represent the effects of depletion on multiple systems and vary greatly in severity. The clinical manifestations are heterogeneous but can also be different depending on the degree and duration of deficiency."
"Severe deficiency shows evidence of bone marrow suppression, clear evidence of neurological features, and risk of cardiomyopathy. However, it is important to recognise that clinical features of deficiency can manifest without anaemia and also without low serum vitamin B12 levels. In these cases treatment should still be given without delay.4 13 "
