This is my second post of questions! ... I have just finished my loading doses of B12. I am not feeling much better.... Doc said i can have more, but my PA blood test came back negative so not sure where i go next ... I am still very fatigued, brain foggy, discombobulated, all the usuals... and a new one this week... a sore spotty head! Docs gave me some fungal shampoo.. I am also waiting for appointments for ENT and MRI to check my brain ok... There is a joke there I just feel a bit confused as to where my symtoms are coming from.. B12 or My sarcoid... Any help, as always, greatly appreciated

Hi Nikki_55 a wiser person than I has written previously:
B12 Side effects
"The pimples/acne, is likely to be caused by microbes on your skin reacting to the additional B12 by producing substances that your skin is then reacting to. In theory this could be resolved by use of a good skin wash. You might have better luck talking to your pharmacist and seeing what they can recommend prior to your next maintenance shot - though there is always a chance that it was something that won't recur".
As to your ongoing symptoms I suggest you re-read the replies I gave to your first post especially the one about how common it is for some symptoms to appear to get worse before they get better.
despite the the spots, as you have neurological symptoms, you should really continue with the shots. Keep a log of the symptoms you had before the loading shots started and monitor what is improving. Some may get worse for a while but something should be improving. When the symptoms stop improving that's when loading doses should stop.
Suggest you speak to a pharmacist about the spots - as clivealive says - probably a reaction to the B12 rather than a fungal problem - though possible that the pharmacist may agree that the fungal wash helps.
The spots could be a very good sign that your body is expelling excess homocysteine, an amino acid that is linked to heart and kidney disease as elevated levels cause damage to the blood vessels.
Are you still taking your cofactors of folic acid/folate and iron? If you've had a blood test recently, you could post on here for advice. I see that the lovely Clive has replied about folate in your previous post. Folate should be in the upper teens, so 17+ and ferritin/iron stores 80+. Also, have they checked your vitamin D and thyroid? Under active thyroid can also cause brain fog and fatigue and it's very common to have low b12 and under active thyroid together.
Hey and thank you for your reply I am glad that some good might be coming out of my sore head problem. I am taking folic acid and vitamin D as they were both low too.. no mention of Iron. I was told thyroid was ok... but maybe i should get a copy of my blood tests... They missed my sarcoidosis diagnosis! Told me i was just having a panic attack.. eejits.. It all still seems a little confusing, my life has changed completely and i cant seem to adjust to it yet x
Defo look into thyroid and check out thyroiduk forum on here. I've only just been found to be hypothyroid and strongly suspect I have been for a while. Docs always told me thyroid was normal but they only test one aspect of it. I too am b12, folate, iron and vit d deficient. As the other comments say, these seem to go hand in hand.
I know what you mean, I miss my old life of being independent and working, cycling around to my community jobs. With my feeling of suffocation, one GP suggested it was anxiety. Since been referred to a chest clinic who have picked up a gas exchange problem. Of course, there's nothing to be ashamed of if it is anxiety but we know our own bodies and know when it's something else.
You're legally entitled to a copy of your blood tests. I was lucky that I changed life cover providers and part of the application allowed medical records from last 3 years to be approved by me before sending to company. The surgery had missed that I was iron anaemic 3 years ago, so I think that was the start of everything. I always get a print out of any results now and at least for anyone having to go private, this seems to be an automatic thing.
With vitamin d, you need the softgels ones and to take k2 and magnesium to ensure the vitamin reaches the bones and not soft tissue and arteries.
