Keepon keeping on..

During the long long time I was fighting for more frequent B12 injections I used to log onto this site sometimes twice a day.......I never felt alone during my struggles. Well, now I have B12 every two weeks and have my old life back. So, I just wanted to say to anyone still fighting.... keep on keep on until you get what you know is right for you. Happy New Year everybody.

It's always so good to read good news jillc39

Is your Folate level being monitored?

All the best for the future.

That’s great to hear. Unfortunately most docs won’t give u that treatment.

It wasn’t worth fighting my gp as he never listens. I buy and self inject every 2 weeks....and it’s true it gives u your old life back.(near enough)

It’s good to take Folate when injecting as it works hand in hand with B12 and you don’t want Low Folate as you wont fully benefit from the injections. 400ug 1 tablet daily is a low dose.(daily recommended amount).

Wish u best of health.

how do you take folate? my gp certainly didn't listen so I had to get her overridden in the end by a lovely neurologist. she said she thought my gp had been cruel to prevent me getting the b12 I needed. and the word 'cruel' rings in my ears as I remember the times I begged and even cried for help.

1 tablet daily 400ug Folic Acid. (that is daily recommended dose)

I would get a second opinion from gp or if you’re seeing neurologist.

It is usually advised to take if on injections.

It amazes me how unconcerned and uneducated some GPs are ...I have never been asked how I am nor have I ever known if my B12 status is checked periodically ..(is that actually done routinely) but this I have learned in less than 24 hours in this forum we have to look after ourselves and listen to our own bodies..I am going to talk to my GP and see what he will say/do and if I get negativity I will start to self inject...I have done it in the past when I couldn,t get to surgery because of heavy work commitments ,.. I too have an underactive thyroid .

Yes....that’s all very true, unfortunately.

Shouldn’t be like that....but is.

Thats great news Jill .I self inject ever two weeks and am back to near normal, a feeling I haven't had for many years.I agree its cruel and was left humiliated and distressed by a GP who said it was unlikely that a B12 level of 72 was causing my symptoms which were really severe. Its a long story and I am now reluctant to go near them for help so am happy to treat myself.Great to see a positive post regarding treatment.
