I've done it......1st self injection

Been trying to pluck up the courage for the last week and eventually I've just done my first injection......hope I've done it right! I'm bloody shaking!!! Didn't really hurt that much just very scary sticking a large needle into my leg!!

Well done Eoperez "you're a better man than me Gunga Din". I've had over 600 B12 injections all administered by nurses or (just once) by a doctor.

Well done. It's scary the first few times you do it. I si into the stomach subcut. I've got enough fat there to hardly feel a thing! We use the finest insulin needles that are tiny and haven't had any real problems as long as the B12 is warmed in the hand before injecting and do it real slow. Hope you get an improvement in your condition soon.

The first one on your own is the worst, or it was for me; sitting there with a loaded syringe with a very sharp needle on the end and pointing it at your own leg is daunting to say the least: it hadn't been a problem at the surgery with the nurse supervising but now it was just me, alone, my hand started shaking so I just put the syringe down on a fresh tissue and waited a few seconds before trying again. It didn't hurt, not one bit, and it went just a smoothly as it had before.

Tonight is number 25 and if it goes like 24 did last week then the whole thing takes about 3 minutes. It gets easier every time. So well done for starting SI and taking control.

Well done, I remember doing several countdowns before I gave myself a mental kick up the backside and just did it. Followed by thinking why didn't it hurt sticking a 1.25" needle into my leg?

As others have said, it gets easier. I still tense up a bit if it takes too long to get any air bubbles out. Don't know if its common (or related to the hevert B12) but I always get one that sticks at the plunger end. I have started warming the ampule in some warm water (I had been holding in hand to get it up to body temp) and I think this makes it a little less viscous and the bubbles are easier to expel.
